  1. That’s a bunch of nothing update. He’s just making guesses

  2. LetsGetSomeChickenn

This means nothing Randle is staying lol ya are annoying af with these posts

  3. So does this basically means that some people in the FO want to try and figure out an extension before the season and some want to wait to see how he fits with this team?

  4. Swift_42690

I wouldnā€™t dismiss an Ian Begley report, heā€™s in tune with the Knicks front office. I think this is a prove it year for Randle. Give him a chance to see how he does with this new team and see if he buys in on the defensive end. If he performs well for us and has a good playoff Run, extend him, otherwise we can look to package him for a better fit or player.

I suggest ppl [read the article](https://sny.tv/articles/knicks-mailbag-plan-julius-randle-july-2024):

Per Ian: ā€œ*I canā€™t tell you exactly what the Knicks think right now because: 1) Things change quickly in the NBA, especially at this time of year. 2) As is the case in most organizations, different people have different opinions on topics related to the team*.

*On Randle, some in the organization believe that Randle can fit well with this group and think that Randleā€™s play in January ā€“ after the OG Anunoby trade ā€“ supports that point*

*Others are concerned about Randle going into this pivotal season with free agency looming and the challenges that may present. In addition, some decision-makers arenā€™t as bullish about the general fit of the current group*.ā€

So to me, it simply sounds like there are differing opinions among the FO and Ian doesnā€™t know what will happen.

None of this is breaking news.

Is this really an update? Just rehashing old and wrong talking points. Is it hard to find a way for a person who’s been able to get his own shot while being able to make shooting look good on top of being a good rebounder to fit on this team?

  7. PineappleTraveler

The key word here is ā€œothersā€. Pure speculation.

  8. Some of you guys are not familiar with Ian Begley. Heā€™s essentially paid PR for the Knicks. If a report like this is getting out itā€™s because the front office or Dolan wants it to go out. Dismissing anything from him is foolish. While I still think Randle can be a big contributor to our success this season, if heā€™s not part of the long term plans and doesnā€™t get an extension, donā€™t be surprised.

  9. Not-Josh-Hart

I love how people dismiss this because they donā€™t like it. Begley is clearly plugged in and yes, this is unfortunate.

  10. Man this multiple all star multiple all nba trashcan gonna weigh this team down.

  11. Just play the fucking year. Nobody in charge of an actual nba team is giving randle anywhere close to the max. Thatā€™s just a this sub thing.

  12. biggreenweenie22

Posturing from the organization. The front office doesnā€™t say shit unless they want you to hear it. Could be in the middle of negotiating his extension behind closed doors

  13. Davefromflushing

The fit is beautiful. Imagine the January 2024 squad but with Mikal!

  14. this-isnt-my-red-it

Could easily have come from the Knicks in an effort to put pressure on Randle to accept a more team friendly deal

Or it could be weā€™re trading him for Zach Levine – just kidding fuck steve mills

  15. iamdanabnormal

Not to doubt Begley but this is also reads like negotiating through the press.

  16. Weā€™re guna need his passing with iHart gone. Underrated part of his game that was starting to shine bright before he got hurt last season

  17. Thatā€™s pretty telling that heā€™d put this out there. He doesnā€™t really ever offer much of substance but when he puts something out there this definitive itā€™s something. Thereā€™s smoke fellas.

  18. Adulations

The fit was amazing in the brief time Randle and OG played together after the trade. I see no reason to switch it up.

  19. justsomedude4202

They were like undefeated with Randle Brunson and OG lol

  20. NYerInTex

Oh yeah, we were just awful when this team – WITHOUT BRIDGES (who is a perfect complement here. Heā€™s not some star or offensive force that must have the ball in his hand all the time. He in fact is best when others carry the load and he can focus on what he does best).

Just donā€™t get this take at all.

Now, the last season of the contract and what do we pay him is a fair question. But the fit? Please. Weā€™ve seen it, and we are only better now.

  21. If begley is saying this itā€™s being leaked from inside intentionallyā€¦

  22. Take_My_User_Name

    Itā€™s about the money.

He wonā€™t take a Jalen / Bridges type deal he wants the 5/310.

  23. leverkusenschlekt

Why would they be? He can playmake and score from 3 levels with 3 all defense guys behind him. It’s an incredible fit. When the ball is in his hands he can either kick out from the post or on a drive to many great spot up 3 point shooters

  24. tconner87

They should give him an extension the day he’s eligible.

  25. He fits. However he isn’t the best fit. Personally, I’m still fine with him being here, and I think we’d still be very good with him here.

  26. FlockingPigeons

To me the full article is playing such a middle ground. The Knicks probably want him to take a pay cut and extend.

From a basketball perspective, how are they going to upgrade Randle? The Knicks need secondary playmaking and already poses some of the best role players in the league. So in theory they would look for a spacing 5 that can secondary playmake and protect the rim. Literally who is that? KAT? Iā€™m not sure they even have the assets for him and the fit on defense is questionable. From a contract perspective heā€™s on a max also. Is Minny even motivated to move him with their success last season? Players above that caliber are now out of our range of assets. Julius has faults but Iā€™m not sure itā€™s gonna get better than himā€¦

  27. Wha even fits better than Randle? Available players like Grant and Ingram are big downgrades.

  28. Top-Lettuce3956

Fred Katz said on Knicks Film School that Dolan loves Randle and appreciates that he came and built the culture. So, who knows? Pick your favorite ā€œinsider.ā€

  29. ryankidd77

I think Randle is gonna fit perfect. Rooting for you Julius! LGK!

  30. lazyguy2525

Randle is a ball dominant player so it’s true he probably doesn’t fit. But he’s also pretty good so you just have to roll the dice.

  31. All of these rumors they put out there to pressure Randle to take a pay cut.

  32. TheJiggie

Lots of people looking to make hot takes during the offseason based off of nothing in an attempt to try to stay relevant.

    Ie. Nothing to see here

    šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

  33. ZoidbergSaysWoop

If Knicks get 2022-2023 shooter Randle, Knicks win the championship.

I think Randle is the type of player to live up to expectations, not shy away from them, especially when healthy.

The problem is how much do the Knicks think it will take to re-sign Randle?

I’m not certain Randle takes a hometown discount.

Best case scenario the Knicks storm out of the gates and prove to Randle that they are true championship contenders and Randle does take a paycut to try and win a championship and become a legend in New York.

Brunson, DiVincenzo, Anunoby, Randle, and Hartenstein was arguably the best team in January.

Brunson, Bridges, Anunoby, Randle, and Robinson has the chance to be even better than that.

  34. goknicks23

In 226 minutes over 12 games together last season, the Knicks outscored opponents by 18.1 points per 100 possessions when Brunson-DiVincenzo-Anunoby-Randle were on the court. The number actually drops to 16.6 when you add I Hart to the mix for the 10 games those 5 played together. Plus Dolan loves him. What am I missing here? Who’s theoretically a better fit?
