  1. slater was on local radio yesterday & here’s a summary of what he said

    * curry needs a 27 year old superstar type talent to help elevate the warriors into serious contenders & doesn’t view markkanen is that but would project the warriors with markkanen as a “fringe contender”
    * warriors odds in trading for markkanen is below 50% & maybe even lower
    * kuminga extension talks will be ongoing but doesn’t expect the warriors to want to re-sign kunminga to the same large extensions that cunningham, barnes, & wagner received this offseason
    * extension with kuminga could also hinge if warriors acquire markkanen & if kuminga bets on himself this could go into restricted free agency next summer
    * doesn’t think the warriors would pivot off to ingram or lavine if markkanen trade doesn’t happen because of financial burden lavine would be & doesn’t think ingram is a fit with the warriors
    * could envision warriors going into next season with the current roster & look to acquire a better player & better fit than a lavine/ingram at the trade deadline
    * roster depth is very similar to 2023/24 roster but kerr likely wouldn’t guarantee or stick with vets like wiggins & thompson as much as he did last season so it’s probably will be a “healthier & fresher” atmosphere but it’s not the top heavy roster you need to be a legit contender
    * warriors brass both the front office & especially kerr loves podziemski & sees him as a winning player and doesn’t want to trade him
    * not sure who the warriors would choose if they had to pick between podziemski and kuminga
    * doesn’t think the warriors would need to attach a 1st round pick to trade wiggins as he thinks he’s a net 0 asset that other teams would still view him as a potential 2 way wing and 3 & D option and his contract isn’t that bad compared to other wings in the NBA
    * kuminga probably will be the warriors 2nd most reliable scorer behind curry
    * collectively the warriors are a better team to start this season compared to last but still views the warriors as a play in caliber team in the 7-8 range in the western conference hierarchy
