New Jersey officials pitching Sixers to build arena in Camden
The Sixers’ new arena plans in Center City need to begin moving forward this fall, or those plans may change. A new report suggests New Jersey officials, including Governor Phil Murphy, are trying to convince Josh Harris and Co. to build in Camden, New Jersey.

This is not new. The Sixers have had the opportunity to go to Camden for almost 4 decades now. Well before Wells Fargo Center was built As someone who grew up in Camden I take offense to the notion that the Sixers belong to Philly. I get it they're the Philadelphia 76ers. But I promise there are just as many 76ers fans in South Jersey as there is in Philly. All the ancillary crap you guys are talking, is just selfish crap. I've been "4 for 4" for almost 50yrs, I promise you I won't be belly aching about where the arena is located. Especially when I grew up closer to Broadstreet, than probably half the fans in Philly.😅😅😅

This is honestly some overdramatic nonsense. Camden is squarely within the Philadelphia metropolitan area. They aren't the Pennsylvania 76ers. I'd be willing to bet that the Camden Aquarium is closer to City Hall than the Wells Fargo Center.

Hell, most people outside of South Jersey and Philly, consider All of the Delaware Valley, to be Philadelphia , and its suburbs . When I tell people who aren't from here that I'm from South Jersey or Camden, and they say" Oh, you from Philly"!

Hey now, i drive over the bridge to Philly for the games! There is a quite a big part of the fan base in Jersey. Camden was discussed decades ago before WF center went up. Nothing new with teams playing outside of their namesake city. I'm sure the players won't mind not paying city wage tax 😂. I think Philly will cave like they did decades ago.

Props to strattrx and their points, but Kyle and Devon hit the nail on the head for the city and the 76ers franchaise, embrace the city “center”, and the power of the city will make the experience truer and richer for more people than whats been the norm.
