  1. It was nice to see Sarr give effort tonight. He was mentally broken against the Rockets and that seemed to carry into the Portland game against Clingan. Obviously I don’t like patting him on the back for finally caring enough to try in summer league, but it is what it is. Still hate his offensive game, he’s going to have to unlearn everything and build it all up from the studs.

Everything else was pretty bad. Some solid defensive effort from Bub and Kyshawn stood out. I don’t like that Jules decided he was gonna shoot everything but he probably (correctly) recognized that no one else was hitting shit.

Felt good beating those hacking tryhards

Sarr looks so damn lost on offense, constantly calls for the ball at the elbow then has no skill whatsoever to do anything with it. I saw this so many damn times this game.

  4. Boogie Ellis really got in Bubs face like he’s not from Baltimore😂😂

Great finish. That Bub cross over into a Sarr rebound kick out to a PBJ 3 was nice. Then Sarr 1-on-1 defense to shut the door… we are so back boys.

  5. That offensive board and kick out to PBJ from Sarr gives me a lot of hope. It’s a long road and we are just starting. Let’s get that last dub on the SL and end positive.

sarr’s offense was terrible again, but 11 rebounds and 4 assists, including both the game winning assist and game winning stop, can’t hate too much

Bernard only one who wasn’t abysmal shooting. Bub had his worst game but had some good looks defensively late. Sarr made some mistakes on defense but he when he was positioned right he was totally shutting down lanes. The offensively rebounding and passing were great – he would have had 6+ assists if anyone could not brick tonight. George kind of the same boat as everyone – some bad mistakes at times but showed real ability and effort at times to make key plays.

    Overall, whatever, it’s Summer League.

  8. This was the first summer league game I’ve watched. I recognize that he played worse in the previous game that I didn’t watch, but I thought Sarr looked fine. (Note: That does *not* say good) He moves well for someone his size, he has great court vision, he’s willing to make the pass, he’s willing to screen, and he was consistently in the right place on defense (didn’t always make the play, though). He absolutely has a ton of work to do on offense. He needs to go downhill and attack more. He needs to settle less. He needs to gain A TON of weight and do significant strength work. But I mean, that’s what we drafted so I wasn’t super surprised

The thing I haven’t seen you guys bitching about on here is how trash the guard play is. Maybe it was better in the other games, but today it was pretty selfish play looking to get their own shots up. The two leaders in assists were both forwards. Not to mention loose handles and poor passing when passes were made. Several guards struggled to even get the ball up the court with a single guy pressing them. Every time a pass went to a big man, it felt like the guy with the ball sighed and had no other option than to just randomly pass it to Sarr (or whoever) at a random spot on the court. Bobby marks mentioned this when he was on, but something that hurts big men in summer league and G league games is poor guard play and the inability of these guards to get big men the ball in good spots to be aggressive.

I thought Bub was unimpressive today. He almost lost them the game on his own in the last few minutes because he let a guy on the other team get under his skin. (Sarr actually made 2 big plays that *won* the game) Bub also had multiple possessions where he put his head down and dribbled the ball into a turnover. He also missed a good number of easy shots. Definitely a bad game from him given the hype you fellas have built up around him in the past 3 games. He’s so young, though, so it’s not like the attitude stuff should be overly concerning

Sarr could definitely be a bust, but it is completely impossible to tell at this point. The level of depression in the comments in the game thread around Sarr blows my mind. He definitely hasn’t looked amazing, but I think he looks like a team player who is willing to do what’s asked of him. Maybe he’ll bust, maybe he won’t but everything I saw today looks almost exactly what we signed up for by drafting a raw, skinny big man at 2

Oh and George looked pretty decent. Some nice shots and blocks. Loose handle and not explosive which is mostly as he was described on draft night

Bub is my franchise PG, George is Klay 2.0 and Sarr is the next Rodman. I always win

Young guys got a lot to work on, but there’s clearly a lot to like with each of them. At the end of the day, they’re all extremely young and this is process. If you’re unwilling to handle the ebbs and flows of that, might be time to find a new time to root for.

I ain’t worried about Sarr. Our summer league team is honestly pretty dogshit and I don’t put much stock into how he performs offensively in a team essentially running an LA fitness offense that can barely control the ball. It’s just not an environment he’s gonna thrive in with where his offensive abilities are at. He’s not gonna create for himself right now and nobody is gonna create chances for him.

His passing, defense, and rebounding look solid enough and I think he’ll fit into an NBA team running actual offensive sets much better. There’s a TON for him to work on but we gotta remember our timeline. We are gonna be absolute bottom feeders for some time, and I wanna spend that time at least trying to enjoy the development of our young guys rather than harping on their mistakes and weaknesses

And if summer league meant anything, Glen Rice Jr. would have been 3rd leading scorer in our 2017 title run

All I’ll say is, I hope Sarr likes basketball. I’m not being cute – a LOT of big men don’t like it and just play cause they’re good at it.

I hope he likes it cause he has a shit ton of work ahead of him, and the only way he succeeds is if he truly enjoys it.

  13. Didn’t catch the game, what was the highlights?

Listening to Coach Seth Greenberg give those sobering words to fans about how these guys are work in progress players was great to hear. It put in perspective that this is the rebuild that a lot of y’all were begging for. Just remember we purposely picked these really young, raw talent, high upside guys with the hopes of them being ready in 3,4,5 years from now and not SL. Alex Sarr is no where close to being fully NBA ready but it doesn’t matter if he is or not right now in SL. You watch him bumbling and stumbling like a baby giraffe at times but there is still a lot there and you can see the vision. All of these guys are projects for us. Bub Carrington is 18 yrs old. All we have is time and when it’s time to go then it’s time to go. It sucks for us for sure but it’s supposed to for a while. This team has no intention in winning at all, only losing, getting top 3 draft picks, and developing these 18-21 yr olds until they’re good enough to takeover….in 3-5 years. These guys (including Sarr) will be just fine. This team is heading in the right direction. Hope that helps
