  1. I watch all the yt content about the Sacramento king's and I am very excited about adding demar derozen. None of you have discussed one of the king's real big reasons the team didn't make progress last year was having so many games losing to sub par teams. Huge reason not getting there, is derozen going to clean this problem up?

  2. Everything Malik has done for 2 years and in the playoffs.. why is this even a debate ? Malik took less money to stay and is by far the best 2 guard on the team . Shouldn’t this be easy?

  3. Keon Ellis proved to be a solid clutch shooter/playmaker while setting the tone defensively at a high clip, late last year. He’s a winner in my book!

  4. Only reason I think huerter is still here is because 1. It buys time for Devin Carter to come back and brings bench points till he does
    2. If he shoots well a trade package might look better than what he’s going for now

  5. He didn’t say they were done making moves, he said it’s likely they won’t mess with the “core”. Which is a very slick thing to say, because I’m pretty sure they don’t consider Huerter to be a part of that core

  6. Ellis has only played 73 games in his career, probably half of them garbage minutes. Very inexperienced but very impressive so far. Definitely has the potential to start on a championship team down the road imo just seeing where he's at despite limited playing time

I wonder… how many other NBA players – when they're playing big minutes their team jumps over 15 spots in the defensive rankings? Will Z?

  7. Let’s see if Huerter regains his shooting touch. He is an incredible shooter when on fire, and will be good to pair sometimes with DeRozen on the floor when Malik or Fox are on the bench. Let Huerter play the 2/3, maybe backing up DeRozen or Keegan at 3.

  8. Miami Heat made 3 easterm conference finals and 2 finals in 4 years with 2 undrafted G leaguers starting in Vincent and Struss. Duncan started the first finals and He was also undrafted G lesguer.

My favorite backup point guars in the NBA Tj Mcconnel is another undrafted G lesguer.

So so many lottery pick busts including Chris Duarte. You can put Marvin Bagley on that list too. Literally too many too count and there are SEVERAL every draft.

So i wouldnt be concerned about Ellis not being a starter on an western conference finals team. He proved He's A winner.

If Fox played last year like He did year prior Kings would have won 50-53 games even with the injuries. He was still great but the year before He was league MVP great

  9. Starting Monk? You're out of your mind. You're going to have Fox, Monk and DeMar fighting for the ball and there's only one. If Monk starts, he's just a spot up shooter like Huerter. So, you start Huerter. Monk running point, Keon and Lyles as your core bench. You lost Mitchell, Duarte and Sasha for your backup 2 and 3.

  10. I think Hueter will either rise or fall next season with this added pressure. Who knows if he makes it with us past the trade deadline, he’s becoming the next Harrison Barnes in a way where his name will be floated around when it comes to trades with the Kings.

  11. Love your level headed approach and optimism Matt. Basketball fans tend to want immediate success but it takes time to build a solid long term roster. Dallas have taken 3 years and still not quite there.

  12. Great content as usual Matt AND I think you are over simplifying and under appreciating what Kevin Huerter brings to the floor. His shooting is his ELITE skill but his playmaking (assist and/or hockey assist) his movement off ball, his IQ to be generally in the right spot in Team defensive concepts are all VERY playable. Don't forget while Kevin's on-ball defense was subpar at times, he was second on the team in deflections with fluctuating playing time.

His effort rebounding needs to be more consistent on this roster than last year and to your point, his threat of scoring near the rim needs to be just as present as his outside shooting as it opens up his attempts. Kevin can play with Derozen and I'm curious to see more of what it looks like with Monk.
