Rachel Nichols says the criticism surrounding Bronny James is ‘unfair’

This was from two days ago, before the game against the Hawks when he scored 13 points.

“I think that people are looking at him as if he’s a top-10 pick. He’s not a top-10 pick. He is a No. 55 pick. The expectations for a No. 55 pick should be that you’re largely headed to the G-League and may get some games up in the NBA. Last year’s No. 55 pick (Isaiah Wong) played four total minutes in the NBA. He didn’t average four minutes a game in the NBA — four total minutes, and those came in one game.”

It’s unfortunate as some have an axe to grind with LBJ and taking it out on the kid.

If the media would stop shoving bronny in everyone’s facing maybe the criticism will stop?

Bronny has the right mentality for an NBA player: do the dirty work, play defense, help the team. He does not have the skills to be an NBA player right now. If he did, he would have been drafted before the 55th pick.

As the 55th pick, there should be no expectations for him. If he develops into an NBA-capable role player, he will have already massively exceeded expectations for his draft position.

People need to lay off, him not panning out as an NBA player wouldn’t be a failure, it would be just another 55th pick

People are jealous of him and want to knock him down/reinforce their own fragile ego by framing him as benefitting from nepotism and being completely unqualified for being in the nba.

Yes he has benefitted from nepotism, but he’s got nba potential and is the son of arguably the greatest player of all time, which means he’s got natural gifts. He just needs to develop his skill and have a good work ethic. Both of which bronny can control. Lakers are betting on his development into a solid role player, while also keeping their superstar happy.

The people hating on him for getting drafted to the nba, would hate on him just as much if he decided instead to become a streamer, or doctor, lawyer, etc., calling it a waste of his gifts. No pleasing those bozos

I’ll tell you what’s unfair, that I have to hear about this fucking kid every single day while other athletes who are more deserving get no attention.

  9. 22LOVESBALL

It’s unfair that he’s being criticized it’s also unfair that he’s in the league without proving he’s good enough yet. Who cares. Life ain’t fair

It has nothing to do with being the #55 pick. It has to do with signing a guaranteed multi year contract and taking up a roster spot. True, perhaps that roster spot might be an end of the bench player, or maybe not. It could just as easily be a contributing vet min. The point is, giving Bronny that roster spot comes at the cost of the Lakers losing flexibility. If Bronny would have signed a dual contract, he would not be facing the scrutiny that comes with occupying a roster spot.

Wasnt he a top 20 prospect coming out of high school?

Come on tell us things that we already know, why do you think we didn’t know these things . You must be a savant

stop talking about him, stop posting every move he makes on the court and the criticism will turn down. You throw him down our throats.

I said this a few days ago here and yall acted like I was being soft. There’s criticism, and then there’s just straight up shit-talking just to talk. Bronny is getting more of the latter. I get it. It’s sports. I talk shit too lol but it seemed personal with Bronny, and people are actively hoping that he fails which is both unfair and stupid. People in this fanbase seem to want him to be bad.

I’m getting tired of these fake Laker fans.
