Dan Le Batard on the Miami Heat:
“Pat Riley doesn’t have any reason in the world to still be working at his age approaching 80. He’s not going to wait around for another young team to ferment…I have assumed that the next play is going to be…trying to get (Kevin) Durant again. I’ve assumed that’s the move they’re going to try and get in play for because I don’t see a better one.”

    Heat have to wait till Jimmy opt of of his contract and maybe trade a player so that the heat will be able to drop below the 1st lvl tax apron. What there "hoping" is next off season Durant demand a trade while Jimmy op out which will open the door for the Heat. Hense the reason why they couldn't make a move this off season because there handcuff by the collective bargain 2 lvl tax apron. We did the same thing when we formed the big 3… Let Wade opt out sign bosh and LeBron then resign Wade…As far as this season goes.. They Heat are done making moves.

    So basically they trade everyone else away for Kevin Durant and then they have to build around him, Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro?

    First, I really don’t think any major, potentially compromising decisions will be based on Riley’s being old. We’re talking about hundreds of millions of other people’s money here.

    I think KD is still an exceptional basketball player, and Kawhi is both my second favorite player, and probably still the 2nd or 3rd best player in the league when healthy. Dude just erases whatever side of the floor he’s defending. I don’t think I would be too upset if we acquired either.

    But what I really want is to see a coach like Spo get to shape and develop a young core from its infancy. My favorite move would be for them to NOT trade JJJ/Ware/Jovic.
