Kolek is extremely overrated. He can’t play defense and is undersized Thibs isn’t going to play a rookie guard who can’t play defense. He’ll spend most of the season in the G league. The move for Payne is simply a depth piece. Deuce will be the backup PG and Payne will be 3rd string. If they planned on replacing Deuce they wouldn’t rely on a rookie who was picked in the 2nd round or a player they signed for 1 year at the vet minimum. Deuce isn’t going anywhere and if anything you can move Payne at the deadline for another vet piece if need be. 🤷🏽♂️

You dont sign Cam Payne if you're not looking to shore up the PG rotation. Deuce has already been described as an off-ball guard and the Walker Kessler rumors have been marinating for a couple weeks. I think Deuce unfortunately will be loosed to Salt Lake City.

At the end of the day it's about the best team to win now and the near future. They need a C. They don't need a guard even one as promising as Duece.

I doubt that Duece will be traded. Payne could be a decent chip at the trade deadline. The league is a wing league now and in the coming years, and we have real nice wings. Also, we take Payne off of the Philly roster. Duece will not be traded for Kessler. Rose will make a trade on his terms and at the right time.
