  1. my grades for the summer celtics so far:

    A tier: Neemy
    B tier: Springer, Anton
    C tier: JD, Baylor, Drew
D tier: Tillie, Cook, Ramsey (begrudingly), Coach DJ

    Everybody else is F tier.

regardless of how hopeful we are of these guys and how much potential they have, the fact is only 10-11 will play regular rotation mins in the regular season and 8-9 will play in the playoffs. There's just 1-2 of these guys that will make a regular impact. Everybody else is maine bound or playing elsewhere.

So the top 10 is pretty locked: kp, jt, ib, jrue, d.white, al, sam, pp, luke and tillman. The possible 11th man is queta for the nights Al/kp sit.

Outside of springer (who imo is ahead of baylor and anton), nobody else has a chace to possibly play and springer's chance is just early in the season when both al AND kp are out.

I was high on baylor pre-SL. i have now switched to anton given how many positions he can play and he seems to be the most d.white-like of the group. Baylor takes bad shots at times. Anton doesnt.

IMO we should be assessing these guys through the lens of how can they play off the starters. Guys like ramsey, JD and scrubb have 0 value outside of maine as the Ca will always have at least 2 of their top 5 on-ball guys on the floor at all times. What we should be assessing these guys on are primarily off-ball skills?

    1. Can they defend at a high level?
    2. Can they make defensive reads?
    3. Can they pick up defensive schemes quick?
    4. Do they set screens?
    5. Do they know when to cut or lift?
    6. Can they shoot the 3 at a high clip?
    7. Can they rebound?
    8. Are they in the right place at the right time on both offense AND defense?
    9. Do they have a high motor?
    10. Can they minimize mistakes (like unnecessary fouls, techs, etc)?

Given those questions, there's only 4 -5 players on the SL roster who are even close to answering affirmatively those questions: springer, anton, baylor, drew and maybe tillie.

Everybody else either cant shoot, cant defend or needs the ball to be effective.
