Raptors lose HUGE to Miami, Chomche flashes INSANE upside again

The Toronto Raptors were 2-0 heading into game 3 before blowing their advantage to Utah. Their effort in game 4, and most importantly their execution was absolutely disgusting.

But there were a few players who stood out in a VERY positive way. Let’s break down a LITTLE BIT of the tape and talk about the good, better and beautiful of Ulrich Chomche, and what we learned about all of the players who are competing for a roster spot with the Raptors.

  1. The pass Chomche had to Agbaji was a good pass. Agbaji was just too lackadaisical with his cut towards the basket. Instead of cutting hard he just kind of had this lazy cut were he reached for the ball instead of cutting hard towards the ball. Honestly I think Chomche might actually look better playing with actual NBA players. Thereā€™s a lot of easy lobs and passes under the basketball he could have scored on if they actually passed him the ball instead of ignoring him. The difference with him and Ware on those lobs is Miami clearly made a decision to get Ware the ball anytime heā€™s around the basket. That was an organization decision to focus on him even in Summer League. The raptors on the other hand is leaving it up to the players to just play their game which is why we were just jacking up 3ā€™s in the whole first quarter.

  2. Iā€™m sick of those random long summer league interviews they put on split screen during the game šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø why not interview these people during half time ?

  3. What is the value of Adbaji's expiring contract, would a team be willing to exchange it for a pick to get under the luxury tax?

  4. Ware just keeps displaying why he should have gone higher in the draft. He may already be the 2nd best lob threat in the league. Trading a late 1st for Ochai may not sound like much, but I kind of hated that trade from the moment it was announced and my opinion isn't ever going to change it seems. There was a lot of talent at the end of the draft and packaging picks to move up would have been nice if that would have been too many 1st round picks. Not high on Walter yet, but will wait to see how far he comes along in G League this year. Carlson just needs to become good enough to be a big at the end of the bench and I'll be happy given he's an undrafted 25 year old. As for the extremely likeable young man we drafted with the 57th pick…. Man, every game he plays Chomche looks a little more like a future NBA rotation player and future starter. I honestly think he looks like a guy who offensively will be able to play 4/5 offensively and defensively could defend 3 and maybe occasionally 4 positions eventually. Has some handles, shooting, passing, lateral quickness….Damn. Way too early to be talking about next year's draft, but given where I see us picking we might have to take a serious look at Chomche's enormous NBA Academy mates Khaman Maluach. That's only if Koloko doesn't return, but obviously I hope he does.

  5. Ochai I love you buddy, but you have to be better man.. you just have to. You have a limited opportunity to prove yourself in the NBA.. like get serious and quit half-steppinā€™. Lock yourself in the gym with the best trainers and throw away the key.

  6. Iā€™m starting to worry about Agbajiā€¦ I donā€™t think heā€™s an NBA player and what complicates things is his dad is Nigerian and Masaiā€™s friend. If the Raptors lose out on Koloko because they donā€™t waive and buy out Vezenkov or Agbaji Iā€™m going to be pissed. Agbaji is like a poor manā€™s Stanley Johnson who was a way better defender.

  7. Omg thank you for calling out the commentary! We don't know or recognize all the players too, sometimes i'd like to know who made that pass or bucket when i can't see shit on their split screen during a random interview.

  8. Im very low on both JFL and Carton as well. They took over the offense and didn't want to facilitate whatsoever. In their heads they want to look good for other teams but man that definitely didn't help them. Carton maybe has some defensive upside with an occasional inefficient 3 but that is it.

  9. I've never heard someone joke about Emmett Till, that's fucked. I feel for Chill, it seemed like it may have affected him under the surface but he was keeping it together for the live. Not sure if that's where he was at but it seemed like it.

  10. chomche made a crazy pass to edgecomb in the nike hoop summit thats when my interest in him started

  11. one tip on stop saying a word is, when you say it, write it down, and mark a X over it. to better get it in your head.

Also have you considered creating a discord. I think it would be more for the community to get together and chat. can have one of your mods help set it up

  12. Imagine how good Ulrich would be if he grew up playing basketball from a young age in the states, I think he'd be the next KAT. He's got to play catch-up at this point, but I think it's possibe he becomes a really good player in 4 or 5 years. šŸ¤ž
