The cap will increase more next year than it did this year(only 5 mill more in 24-25 than 23-24) and that will make it easier to trade Simons and Grant.
My question is, why are most of the Blazers' mock trades some version of:
Blazers send:
– All of their best players
Blazers get:
– Random mediocre player
– 2045 second round pick
– New dishwasher
The thing with the grant trade is if he isn’t traded Deni won’t have the ball as much and it’ll hurt he’s development as he’s trying to make another jump this year so it’s that + all the camara and Jabari walker stuff. Also the lakers only have a 2year championship window so they do have urgency that’s why I’m all in favor of trading grant to the lakers even if it’s for a first and a swap or another protected first
We didn't trade Dame for a long time. In addition, getting 2 first round picks plus Rui and other great players. It's frustrating that Cronin thinks that Jerami is worth all of the picks. Jerami is like Jeff Green, he's played well for every team he's played. A great player than can play the 2nd or 3rd shooting option. He has played first option, but I don't think he likes it.
Cronin cant be too patient. Chicago tried to be patient and they ended up getting little return for their returns
Trading Grant is going to net players coming back, so the notion that the other Blazers will get more time to develop is only partially true. It depends on who joins the team. I see no way we only get draft picks and somebody we buy out or waive. And with Grant's salary, it has to be somebody that is also making decent buck.
Cronin waited until close to the end of the offseason to move Dame. Could see the same with Grant.
No one wants Simons. Negative value contract/player
One advantage of waiting till the season starts to make a trade, is that some playoff hopeful teams will not look good with what they have and don't want to be stuck in the middle. Or somebody that they counted on has a setback with their ailing knees or ankles. Kris Middleton for example. Miami seems a bit underpowered, but maybe some sour grapes about Dame will take a poor start for them to budge.

Clearly they are okay with losing a segment of their fanbase and season ticket holders for five years thinking they will come back when they’re good again. That’s a gamble that billionaires can take.
Grant and Ant have to go…keeping them around doesn't help our rebuild
what about trading Robert Williams to the Knicks?
