Don’t think it would happen. Maybe if Vuc was expiring but I don’t think he fits Tibs style. While I wouldn’t hate having Randle I’d prefer to keep grant. He’s from Charlotte, wants to be here, and brings physicality, playoff experience, communication, and matches the age and timeline of the rest of the core

i don’t see why we would want Randle, he’s a win-now player that doesn’t fit our timeline, don’t think i’d want to extend him at the money he’s gonna want after his contract ends and he’ll be 31 by then. also he’s going to take a lot of playing time at the 4, when we literally just drafted Salaun to hopefully develop him into our 4 of the future. i don’t hate the trade bc we barely give up any assets, but i dont think this is worth it longterm for us

New York is firmly planted in “win now” mode. They’re not risking giving up a certified All-Star in the middle of his prime in any scenario, but especially not for Vucevic, who’s in his mid-30s and looks like he’s been steadily declining over the past few years.
From our perspective, Randle is 29 going on 30 whereas Grant is 25. Grants ceiling certainly isn’t as high as Randle’s, but I suspect Randle isn’t going to want to spend the last 2 years of his prime as the lone All-Star vet on a very fringe play-in team. I’d worry about him going the way of Boris Diaw, where he just flat doesn’t give a shit and is waiting until he gets traded or his contract expires so he can go play for an immediate contender.
So, this might work from a finances/win shares standpoint, but it doesn’t work from a philosophical one for any team involved, IMO.

Randle has one year left and we would have to extend him for big money. Our timeline does not align with Randle.

Why would the Knicks do that? They literally get worse.

this is decent for the bulls, pointless for the hornets, and awful for the knicks

Three thoughts, one for each team:
New York – Vuc is a great fit here, but not at the loss of Randle. Losing Nick Smith, Jr. stings, because I think he needs more reps (translation: needs to be on a rebuilding club) to show his worth. He’ll be buried on the bench in NY.
Chicago – The Knicks do not own the Nets 2025 2nd. The Nets do. Chicago would be justified in asking for a 1st here. I would if I were them.
Charlotte – This is a win-now move. This is for a team looking to make some noise in the playoffs. You don’t make this deal when you’re a bottom 8 team.

LMAO New York gets fucked. Vooch is a negative asset on this contract while Randle is an allstar.

The Knicks would not give up Randler for Vucevic. Makes no sense
Also I’m not nearly as high on Randle as many. Plus i think he’s a horrible fit here

I’m not big on Randle as a winning player in the first place, but even if I was, why would the Knicks give him away for a washed-up center who can’t play defense and a project guard in NSJ?
Randle can only play PF, as he’s too slow to guard wings and too small to guard centers. He’s also a guy who mostly needs the ball in his hands to be effective. I don’t see him being effective on the floor next to Miles, and he would block minutes for Salaun. On top of that, he’d demand a pretty big payday soon to stay in Charlotte, for a lot more money than I think he’s worth.
