KCP: “We had no gas in the playoffs” – interview with Draymond Green

“ We had no gas. We felt like the Lakers should have beat us. We was down every game" . Watch the interview here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvzyPNL0_S0

Pretty much confirmed what a lot of us in this sub have thought. The starters played way too many minutes in the regular season because of the weak bench we had. The lakers series even though it was a short series took something out of them. Despite all that they were up 20 in game 7 at home to reach the WCF. This is why I like the Westbrook signing so much, no matter what’s going on in a game he will provide energy and a spark.

A lot of people in this sub and the national media are down on the nuggets but I believe this team will surprise a lot of people. The bench is way better and more versatile than it was last year, Malone will be creative with his rotations im sure. I’m taking a well rested and now hungry again Murray, Gordon, MPJ and Jokic with any 5th starter against any team in the nba in a 7 game series. Don’t let jokic full you, he’s a silent assassin, he’s coming for revenge

our championship year we coasted hard as fuck for like 2 months of the regular season. Last year we had a shortened offseason and no significant coasting time. The mpg difference may not look significant but extra rest days + not playing as hard for 2 months made a huge difference in energy levels. Western conference is tough but we need to be able to do that again, even if it means we end up 5/6 seed.

You say it confirms the starters played way too many minutes because of the weak bench we had but you didn’t talk about his opinion that maybe fighting for the 1 seed down the stretch with OKC and Minnesota wasn’t worth it. Especially with guys hurt. I think he said they should have focused on going into the playoffs healthy and not worried about the seeding and he thinks we were a championship team this year as well.

It was obvious they were pushing hard for the 1 seed. In hindsight that was a bad decision.

Imagine sleeping on a team with the best player in the world and a championship pedigree

No matter the talent on the bench, the key to the season is Michael Malone’s ability to adjust his coaching style and rotations. Simple as that.

Oh, and Jamal not being hot garbage. But based on the Olympic performance thus far, that looks murky at best.

I think joker a Jamal playing in the Olympics is an interesting topic.

  8. If we add Westbrook it does nothing to solve this problem. We swap in Westbrook who averaged about 22 min a game for Jackson who averaged 22 min a game. That does nothing keep guys fresh. We also are going to move Braun to the SL so even less bench depth.

What they need is not swapping backup PGs. What we need is a backup 2 and backup 3 and backup 4 that can play meaningful minutes.
