An NBA Executive recently revealed the major reason why the New York Knicks are having so much difficulty in trading for a backup center. It has to do with the assets or rather, lack thereof by the Knicks to pull off a trade. We’ll also take a look at another center that is currently available and has one NBA Exec clamoring for NY to sign this player to the roster. Bleacher Report has also linked another guard to NY and is urging the Knicks to pick up this player for depth purposes. You dont need Cam or Kolek to play. You have Brunson, Devo, Bridges and Hart can all play guard.
I look at all the NBA free agent are just trying to make it hard for NY being that they are a Championship team … Plus other teams see that for sure.
Just put Ariel Hukporti in as back up Center and sign Precious Achiewa to a one year deal for 12 million. Not only would we still be contenders, but we’re not giving up anything, and when next year other veteran Centers of interest are closer to walk from an ending contract one of them could eventually end up on the Knicks, or be traded by a particular team more willing to take whatever Knicks are offering at that point with their backs more against the wall to get something, rather than nothing in return…
Although he’s only a rookie at 22, he’s 7 foot at 247 pounds, and even though it was Summer League he looked pretty good, plus coachable to get better over the season at a cheap price. You also have Sims.
We should trade Keita Bates-Diop, cam payne, and the draft picks instead of mcbride. Also since we lose Diop we could just resign precious achuwa since I think they are around the same skill level.
Duren is making $4.5M so either Deuce ($4.7M) or S&T Precious (>$4.7M) would work. And the Knicks would stay under 2nd apron while complying with new CBA. Would rather trade Precious, obviously.

Ideally we could still bring Precious back but if it cost sending him in a sign and trade with Deuce, the 2 RD1 picks, a pick swap and I'd toss in Sims as well….do it! Love Deuce but the minutes aren't there.
The Don and the executive already look at the package but the Knicks not ready to cross that bridge. The Knicks are playing chess not checkers.

Achiuwa is restricted. See what others are even offering and pay a little more, if it keeps them under the 2nd apron. They picked up Payne, and with both DiVincenzo and Hart on the bench now, McBride is redudant. I value him higher than Payne, obviously, but he is the 8th guy in the roatation. Let's not over-value him. If the Knicks can trade him, plus a first for Kessler or Duren, just pull the trigger. Having a proper center when Robinson gets hurt is critical. Achiuwa is really a backup 4, not a 5.

Julius Randle at the 5 in a small ball lineup – something Thibodeau needs to figure out how to implement properly.
And I would give Skapintsev a shot at traditional backup center.
There's no rush. The Knicks should try what they have already rather than overpaying for a backup center. There's plenty of talent on the roster where there's no need to do anything rash

The Knicks would give up Randle, couple picks, some players for KD I think that is smart. We have our opinions about KD n all but he is top 9 in all scoring of all time 2 time nba champion, 4x scoring champion. Just saying

Hey Troy i think that knicks havent made a move yet because they waiting for august 6th at that time Kolek is available in trades to me as good as he looked in “summer league” on offense but lets not pretend for a minute that thibs will play someone that dont play any defense if u sign and trade precious to high as possible then add kolek sims and RJs trade exemption thats 5.5 mil u could get a player making 15-20 mil i think they find a way to get capela
