  1. i would see em competing at the end of years 4 and going foward castle needs 2 , 3 years of NBA i like is demeanor leaderlike (pg) wemby already there so if we get sochan (offensively speaking) and some back up (bench) end of years 3 start year 4 the team should be "set" as we know our main 5 and our bench are pretty stock the rest is ( min and avoiding injury )

  2. Keldons not getting traded. Spurs don't want to get rid of our best picks and teams with assets we want aren't looking to trade into keldon.

  3. For the moment, you only have three or four players from the future contender team : Wemby, Vassel, Castle (I think that he will develop well. What he shows during the summer league is very encouraging. He needs to develop his shooting [Wemby too btw] and his passing skills with CP3) and Sochan (I am a little bit concerned by him. If he doesn't manage to develop his shooting, he won't stay in the future team. He will be too expensive to keep him on the bench and use him as a defense tool).
Tre Jones is developping very well and could be a very valuable PG in the rotation. This year will be decisive for his future (he is in his last contract year). He can also benefit from the CP3 experience.
CP3, Barnes, Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins, Blake Wesley, Malaki Branham won't be in the team two years from now (retired, cut, traded or not resigned). I don't even talk about other players of course…
The Spurs will draft at least two players in the 2025 lottery (Atlanta's and own pick) and perhaps a third one (Bulls' one – top10 protected) if they are lucky. The draft is very loaded with very good players even up to the 10st place. Some of the drafted players could be part of the project as rotation players if no luck or as future all-star if the Spurs managed to get one of the three or four first picks (Copper Flagg, Ace Bailey, Nolan Traoré,…). They could also choose to trade one of these picks to get another future unprotected draft picks…
The 2025 free agency is also loaded with very good vets and the Spurs should start to pick some good rotation players (much better than Zach Collins or Keldon Johnson) in long-term contracts.
The Spurs will also own some good assets to make a trade in the 2025 summer and they could try to attract an all-star player or some very efficient rotation players : Keldon Johnson with a good contract, Zach Collins and Barnes in their final year, Blake Wesley and Malaki Branham in the last year of the rookie contract (team's option).

In 2026, the Spurs could start thinking of a place in the play-in and why not a place in the first round of playoff. It should be difficult to do better as the team will stay quite young (Castle in his second year and several rookies).
I don't see the team to be a contender before the 2028/2029 season. And in order to be, they will need to trade for a second offensive option (ideally in the wings – SF or PF) as I don't think that Vassel will manage to become more than a third offensive option… (He is still hiding when it matters. He scores more when the Spurs are -20 than when it is closed).
You cannot always count on Wemby to score in the important moments !!!!

  4. No. That's a fail in my opinion. That's a lot of years wasting Wemby's rookie scale contract. We can use that money to pay big time free agents while young players are still developing and then when its time to pay Wemby, those younger guys will be able to take the mantle and continue the winning. Dont waste his early years waiting on hypothetical players to pan out or he will leave like Lebron did Cleveland on his first stint

  5. So much can happen after this next year. I don't understand why people treat being a play-in team this year as a success. We're the Spurs ffs. A bigger success would be to get a huge draft pick if not two this next year. THEN we go hard. If you want a new dynasty, you should want us to take our time.

  6. I think any discussion of the Spurs' improvement should include their winning streak in April 2024. It was a much-improved team. I think they can build on that.
