2024 team are playing serious competition. 1992 team didn’t face anybody.
I would actually argue the Dream Team is part of the reason Basketball has grown around the world and why the US isn't as dominant anymore. The game has grown and so has worldwide talent.
Those '92 opponents were straight garbage. Instead of holding unto nostalgia, go back and watch those games. Its hard to watch they are so bad. Not to knock the US team, but the overall level of competition isnt even remotely close to what it is today.

92 Dream Team definitely played weaker competition but Bird and Magic barely played due to age injuries and aids and Mike focused almost solely on defense. Those blow outs could have been far worse. Today’s dream team is old. I’ve been extremely critical of LeBron over the years but the man has been clutch and dominant so far in this Olympics. They shouldn’t have to rely on a 40 year old. The rest of the team should be ashamed. Sure the competition is better today than in the 90’s but the roster although old should be plenty to clear every team by 20-30. The real problem is that the US team is soft. The nba has groomed players to focus on foul baiting and playing 30 feet out. Embiid has been an embarrassment, most of the team standing at the 3pt line waiting for a pass. The US team is very beatable.
To be fair the talent gap all over the world gets exponentially smaller every year. I think it’s just a more competitive game now when it comes to every country

Hear me out, the reason the game was close is because Lebron is the leader. Sure he was clutch but it shouldn’t have been close. If he wasn’t on the team, we would’ve ran away with this game.
