Rui Hachimura’s Olympic Opener: 20 points (10/12 FT) 4/19 FG 2/9 3PT

Ignore the Bronny hate hit, but definitely not a good showing for Rui, at all. Looked even worse on defense than he did against Denver, too.

Germany is a good team that won the recent FWC. Haven’t watched the game but stats wise he’s good aside from poort fg%. For sure Germany’s best defenders were guarding him everytime he’s on the floor. Just hope he finish the olympic games healthy.

It’s an ugly stat line, but I’m also not interested in having a take on a stat line of Rui being played in a different role than we’ll use him in.

He won’t be the primary scorer, and won’t get 19 shots up.

he’ll bounce back but not a good look from him,

good ft shooting tho, that is something the Lakers desperately need.

  4. Hopefully the Japanese fans won’t racially abuse him like last time. That could really fuck him up psychologically

Rui’s a very “mid” player. What do we expect from him?

He had enough time in Washington and now LA to show he can be a consistent performer. He isn’t consistent. He has moments…But he’s just not that good.

    He is who he is.

I see him as a “flex starter,” and more of a bench guy. He doesn’t specialize in anything (e.g. shooting, defense) well enough and he doesn’t score consistently enough.

Ugly stats but he’s not a 1st option. He’s forced to be

He should go to the spurs that would be a great situation for him

Just accept the fact that he’s inconsistent. He’s still a good role player.

This didn’t go as badly as the box score suggests. Rui had to bail his team out multiple times and didn’t have many actions involving him at all. Germany kept doubling him hard even before he caught the ball. Defensively, Germany was switching out every time he was the primary defender and he was fighting for rebounds as well.
