[Himmelsbach] “I thought I was crazy when I looked at everything & determined these are the lineups I wanted to get to. Jayson is first-team All-NBA three years in a row… I talked to him, and he was incredibly professional.” More from Steve Kerr on Tatum’s DNP

Kerr doing his usual deflection of blame on something he was in 100% control of the whole time

  2. 1337speak

Why is he shocked by his own line ups? Make it make sense.

  3. TwofoldOrigin

Lmao this makes zero fucking sense.

I had to check this was Kerr himself saying it. His comments are actually leading me to believe he purposely did it for some bullshit reason outside of basketball

Tons of former players clown on Kerr, he doesn’t get legitimate “goat” coaching comments. He must be pretty trash to not really have any respect from anyone with his resume

    I see why

  4. KantoChampionGreen

What did he expect The Champ to do? Throw a fit? Dude looked sick to his stomach riding the bench.

  5. So your saying he’s considered the best American for the last three years and he doesn’t play because why?

  6. TwofoldOrigin

Why would anyone not in the current Team USA coach’s “guys” why would you even join the team?

There seems to be very few positive for even winning a gold medal unless you’re one of the two most used players that year. Otherwise you’re “exposed.”

Don’t do the Olympic/Nike shit anymore unless they get a non-weasel coach

  7. AgadorFartacus

There is no other player in the league who would be treated like this with Tatum’s resume.

  8. trashmoddss

Nah dude keep that same energy I better not see Tatum get a single minute the rest of the Olympics since you guys don’t need him. He gets a free Gold Medal or they lost and it’s your fault because you didn’t play him.

  9. daft_dunkwwwolfey

LMAOOO @ kerr acting like it was some divine intervention or supernatural force. But yall might be overthinking it as well, as much as it sucks you can’t trust kerr’s lineups + LeBron, KD, and Steph are gonna get most of the minutes cuz its gonna be their last ride.

  10. B-I-G-A-R-R-O-W

I’m at the point where I kinda want this team to lose so everyone who’s in charge gets let go

  11. holographoc

    Absolutely asinine.

There’s like 8 guys you could’ve pulled 3 minutes from and made it work swimmingly with a guy who can do anything on the court.

That’s either sheer incompetence or complete bullshit.

  12. FreeSeaSailor

This just doesn’t make any sense…..I’m sorry but there is more here. You can’t tell me that you can’t find a single minute to squeeze in Jayson Tatum.

  13. DatDamGermanGuy

Fun Fact: JT is the only American on the NBA First Team this year. Other first team selections are SGA, Luka, Giannis and Jokic…

  14. davemoedee

Why post a tweet that just pulls a quote from an article? Why not post the article link and an excerpt? Reddit really is a mess.

  15. Ok_Acanthaceae6057

I’m not over reacting, but JT show me your leadership in this scenario. Let’s see what you do next. Also a good lesson for Hali as well.

  16. Before I just thought Kerr was stupid, but then he opened his mouth and removed all doubt.

  17. Sm0k3inth3tr33s

Damn, I’m eating my words big time right now. I gave Kerr way too much credit, this is fucking absurd.

  18. The idea you can’t find a spot for a point forward who is the ideal substitute for LeBron because Durant came back is just idiotic. You can use Tatum and Durant simultaneously while maintaining spacing and your guards off ball

  19. Christbike

Seriously, fuck Steve Kerr. This was some truly bitch shit and knowingly disrespectful. If you can’t find room for Tatum you are absolutely deficient as a coach.

  20. Steve Kerr: “I was as surprised as anyone that Tatum didn’t get in the game. It’s a mystery. Guess we’ll never know what I was thinking.”

  21. He obviously hasn’t shot great, and doesn’t deserve to be playing starter-level minutes especially when they’re showcasing the Curry/Bron/KD trio, but to have zero role for him at all is insane. He’s 6’10”, can guard 5 positions, and do everything on offense. Like why is Bam shoe-horned into all backup PF minutes? Some of Jrue and DWhite’s minutes could go to him too.

Feel like a lot of the issue stems from this apparent “need” to force a square peg into a round hole with Embiid. He’s the one guy on the entire roster that doesn’t fit what the team is ultimately trying to do on both ends of the court.

  22. I think Tatum is too passive and should actually be demanding to play minutes. You can’t expect to be the face of the league when you allow yourself to be benched in an Olympic game given your resume. Maybe this is the slight he needed to start demanding his respect

  23. Eisenhorn76

Seriously: the best way for JT and JB to get even with these bitches running USA Basketball is to hang Banner 19.

  24. AmbitionExtension184

Kerr admitting to the world he can’t figure out how to use a finals MVP or 1st team all-NBA is fucking hilarious.

  25. SylvesterLundgren

Tatum getting punished for being Browns teammate? Because otherwise this shit makes zero sense

  26. blinkincontest

All this says to me is that Kerr would have fucked up Tatums career if was his NBA coach, so I’m just thankful for that not being the case

  27. Moodapatheticz

Idc about the Olympics but fuck Steve kerr.

  28. Plastic_Database_645

“your team better lock yo shit up next year coz I’m gonna drop 50 on you”

    JT to Kerr probably

  29. Valuable-Baked

Let settle down. We didn’t need JT to defeat the toughest team in our group, let’s work him in against the other teams so he’s a seasoned bench role come crunch time. KD is gonna need *some* rest. Shit happens

  30. Moodapatheticz

I must be one of the only people that watch the nba who can’t fucking wait for LeBron, Steph and KD to retire.

The fact everyone just talks like it’s their god given right to play every min as a last hurrah is peak reality tv level bs.

  31. blittle3131

Kerr is not a great coach. He’s had great teams. It’s obvious here he’s in way over his head. Totally exposed

  32. NotFlipkid

Entitled after one championship in 10 years is crazy

  33. Pipes_of_Pan

I mean I want Tatum to play as much as anybody but I can get why Kerr is bristling about his coaching decisions after a blowout win over the NBA MVP. For me JT should be getting all of Booker’s minutes

  34. Tatum was unplayable against a team with M. Guduric playing 12 minutes? Steve Kerr is a fucking clown.

  35. Hopefulmisery

Steve Kerr really isn’t a good Olympic coach

  36. shortpersonohara

This dude has just fallen face first into the best possible scenarios time and time again. Played with the Jordan Bulls and then as a coach gets gifted the best shooter in the history of the NBA alongside the second greatest shooter in the history of the NBA. Warriors fans even know he’s awful. Bro really came to the conclusion the only way to slot KD back in (who definitely should be starting) was to just give him all of JTs minutes lol. Dudes a moron
