Said before but watched Penny destroy my Billilkens when he was at Memphis. Became an immediate fan and then an Orlando guy. I mean come on Shaq and Penny? Now yes I was a Bulls fan first and had to take them when going against each other but when Jordan "retired" I went straight to the Magic. Course I had to flip back but they were always my second favorite team unless going against Jordan and the Bulls. It's Penny and Grant Hill I wish never got injured to a point it killed their careers. Two gods on the court.
Had what it took to beat Jordan's team.
Penny Hardaway was one of the most exciting young players in the NBA.
When he came in, people were already calling him the "next Magic Johnson".
Unfortunately, he's just one player on a long list of stars who fell due to injuries.
Player like Penny, T-Mac, Grant Hill and Brandon Roy. Will always have you wondering what if.
I remember when I was in middle School and the 1st pennys came out! Those shoes were theš©
One of my favorite players in the 1990's. Penny was cold!!
That left handed move against the heat was dope whatever that move was.
Would love to see your take on Run TMC and their brief time together
Penny ….what he could have been.Tragic.
One of my favourite Players of all time
My 2nd favorite player behind MJ growing up!! They really dont understand how cold that man was. He was on the path to being a 1st ballot HOFer hands down
the reason why i loved that sequence bc most players are taught half spin(pivot: if you fake right you go left and if you fake left you go right) but what Penny did was faked right and just reversed spin aka stepback to faced the bucket (created the open space) bucket.. Penny 1 of my all time fav players top 3 easily. and for the record it's not bad basketball. If that's the case every move is bad basketball ONLY if you haven't practiced it enough to have it down.
Im surprsed the refs didnt call something on that play bc to this day no players has repeated that sequence of moves no one. Back in the day when refs saw a move they never saw before they called something so the move didn't count.. the 1st the NBA ever saw a euro step was when 'Nic did it on a fastbreak in a game in the 80s. They called a travel but replay clearly showed Dominic taken only 2 steps it just wasn't in a straight line.
funny thing about this is.. these players are looking at this move Penny in playoffs like they never seen it before. lol (clip been around since 98 i think).
penny before injuries…. i dont think we ever see better pg than him
Penny years he didn't reach in my opinion because he came in so good from jump.
Pennyās top 50 highlight reel is insane! He posterised every big man in the 90s. If Magic built around Shaq & Penny they would have been unstoppable.
Penny was a unicorn talent that was an extraordinary play maker from both spots with elite passing ability and lethal midpost game (accompanied with a quality outside shot &above the rim finisher) made him a match nightmare
Penny,VanExel were my 2 favorite guards of the 90s
Got to watch him play at Memphis and knew people outside of Memphis didnāt know what was coming to the NBA.
Is, and probably always will be, my favorite player ever.
Come on Sean let's use this time machine to go back to Hoop Dreams. Classic.
Seikely would be worth a video. Shout out Rony.
A rookie penny is the only person that gave prime jordan a run for his money
When Penny dunked on Ewing, I remember telling my friend the Knicks are not winning the Atlantic that year.
Penny was better then Kobe and Lebron
Guy was a king, beside MJ, one of my favourite playrs
THAT'S A REAL STEP-BACK. IT'S NOT PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE IT'S STRAIGHT JUKE MOVE….NOT SUS OF A TRAVEL.š
Penny and Derrick Rose are my biggest what ifs that I really would have liked to see healthy
1.Jordan/Penny
2 Kobe
3 Bird/Olajuwan
4 Labron
5 Magic/ Kareem
If we are predicting how well they could of done.
I watched him when he was playing in the NBA before his injuries, and after
Why so many people think he was supposed to be the next right thing I will never understand
Average shooter
Average defender
Flashy
That doesnāt make you a great NBA player
Thanks for the video. Penny was art right from the his rookie season. He had it all. I enjoyed watching him play. He must be in the hall of fame, no doubt.
One of my favorite sneakers.
Check latest Shaq interview where he talks about Penny (Penny was there as well). Itās a great and unique interview.
For me back in the MJ days there was always MJ and then right next to him there was always Penny, joy to watch.
Smoothest player I've ever watched.
Larry Johnson was also a megastar who should get his flowers
Itās actually one of my go to moves 4:42
This goes to show the Level of competition in that era….. Penny, Hakeem, Ewing, Shaq, Barkley, Bird, Magic, Kemp, Malone, Miller, Drexler, Thomas, Worthy, McHale,R. Smith, etc, etc, etc…………….
Penny ascended beyond air for about 2 years. He was the best for about 2 years. Him and Pippen shouldāve had mvps from 93-97 ish.
Penny was and still is my favorite . Glad that Nike rereleased his shoes. Not really into the Jordan shoe since everyone has them but you bet I will be getting those Pennyās.
This should be a segment called āyour dadās favorite player (you might not have heard of)ā!
If Penny or Grant Hill never got injured, Kobe would have had more competition during his prime years…
Penny didn't even reach his peak and yet we know how great he is, and humble too.
Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill
Penny was my favorite player ever, now it's Anthony Edwards. I wish Ant kept #1 instead of switching to 5
I'll be honest. As Bulls fan back then, Penny scared me way way more than Shaq. He was incredible.
I always feel for how Penny's career got detailed but seeing what he's done with his life its clear to me God had bigger plans for Penny. If he'd gotten to have a healthy career I don't think he'd have been there to go back and coach those boys.
I almost died of sheer excitement when Backcourt 2000 was assembled
I love it when my hometown guy gets love. We're still proud of him to this day.
He was so damn good when he came into the league. Felt so bad for him and Grant Hill with those damn injuries hit them
