Holy shit what a game. Feels bad for Kawamura he played his heart out there.

Really loving all these Olympic basketball games

  2. Seems like Japan ran out of gas, and they didn’t have that Rui mismatch hunting to bail them out. Incredible game.

    🤔Something is REAL 🐠 🥖🎣 🇫🇷 🐠 going on

  4. FlipMoBitch

Is France this bad they need this kind of help?

  5. shunsui___kyoraku

MY GOD WHAT A MATCH. Japan did so well specially with Hachimura ejected.

Also, Kawamura what a fucking stud. Guy would’ve owned the NBA if he was like 6’3

  6. bilnotmil

Props to Japan for almost beating France without Rui

  7. AceMcStace

Poor Japan, got absolutely hosed on the Rui ejection and phantom foul on that 4 point play

  8. iamhereforsomework

Japan lost but if Yuki Kawamura has million numbers of fan i am one of them . if Yuki Kawamura has ten fans i am one of them. if Yuki Kawamura have only one fan and that is me . if Yuki Kawamura has no fans, that means i am no more on the earth . if world is against Yuki Kawamura, i am against the world.

  9. LeetChocolate

that foul to force OT was the most bullshit ive ever seen, on par with KD out of bounds.

We were on the cusp of one of the greatest upsets in FIBA history

  11. flamepipe

WHAT A GAME! Tough loss for Japan. They fucking had it, man.

  12. Robinsonirish

France got away with some cheap fouls there at the end. Really not impressing. Was hoping for some competitive games where someone could challenge the US but so far it’s definitely not France.

  13. rustystatic

Disappointing. Kawamura definitely shot them out at the end but France didn’t deserve to go to overtime. Japan were robbed.

I’m gonna be hating on every France game for the rest of the tournament now. Can’t explain how frustrated I am for a team I have no affiliation with

  14. backpage24

If there was a God in this world they would have had Japan convert a 4pt play to send it to 2OT

  15. Japan deserved to win, but should have fouled before he shot a 3. Refs handed the game to France on that call

  16. RaidenXYae

actual bullshit call to save France, disgraceful

  17. RegordeteKAmor

Yuta truthers, um stand back and stand by

  18. UnimpressedAsshole

the expected referees called out sick and were replaced with boxing refs

  19. Yuta Watanabe needed to step up after the Rui ejection. Refs sold Japan so bad man

  20. Superpole2

That felt pretty rigged lmao, exited to see wether this was just an incredibly off game by the french or wether their olympics may be fucked as soon as someone real pulls up against Germany

  21. UTDRashford

Almost upset the host nation even with rui getting ejaculated early in the 4th quarter if only they didn’t conceded that 4 point play and getting fucked by the refs

  22. Remote-Molasses6192

This shit was more rigged than that infamous 1988 medal game that made America decide that they didn’t care anymore and they’d assemble the dream team.

  23. Medium_Active1729

insane basketball from japan, they played aganst giants with so much height disadvantage. Impressive

  24. sanitizest

Such a robbery from the refs here. So bummed bc Japan was COOKING. Love Kawamura. Hope rui knows that was a bs foul.

  25. purplesaber-0617

What a fucking shitshow of a ref game. Refs bailed France out with the Rui ejection and the phantom 4 point play. Some home brewed bullshit. Hope Germany embarrasses France in front of their home crowd.

Great game from Yuki and Rui, also shoutout Josh and Hugh blocking Govert and Wemby. Goddamn fuck did they want this one. They played their fucking hearts out and get screwed over in the end.

People will say Kawamura shot them out of the game, and maybe. But Japan didn’t sub in other 3 point shooters until the final minute of OT.
Genuinely, the Japanese players on the court can’t shoot, create their own shots or score inside. Hawkinson can, but he would’ve been doubled by Wemby and Gobert in the paint. Yuta did little to nothing in terms of shooting this game.
Kawamura did chuck a ton, but there was genuinely no other choice.
If you look at the statistics of some of these Japanese players last season, then you’d throw up shots too.
I think Hugh Watanabe and Yoshii literally averaged like one or two points on 30% shooting the entire season.

  27. BJ_Fantasy_Podcast

Really just watched Gobert and Wemby get worked by Josh Hawkinson.

  28. fieldsports202

I expected Japan to fold once Rui was ejected. But they had France shaking.

  29. purplequesadilly

Whatever happens this France offense is not a beauty too watch. They will get knocked out by South Sudan at this point

  30. The 4 pt play – That was a very light touch on the hip at best. There’d be a lot more fouls called if that’s the standard for a foul. The French player didn’t appear to be hindered at all or call for a foul. But agree it was dumb for Kawamura put himself in that position to potentially foul at all – should have just let him shoot it without contesting.

What a shame – he carried the Japan team with some big plays on both ends after Rui got rejected. 6 boards at 5″8 is some effort and he was all over the court, albeit with a bit too much hero ball (but Japan wasn’t exactly overflowing with shot creating talent – Watanabe was quiet).

Also shoutout to Hawkinson for a massive effort inside against Gobert and Wemby. Thumbs down to Rui for a ridiculous foul after already having one unsportsmanlike foul.
