Nah. I think we’re all just really scared of repeating what happened with the old Russ-Harden-KD trio, and are looking for anything that even looks like an echo of it, whether it’s actually there or not.
Harden was a seamless fit and promising talent on our old OKC team, that we let go for the sake of not wanting to pay him a bit of money. He unexpectedly blossomed into an MVP candidate on the Rockets, and showed that we made the wrong choice. Giddey is a good player and facilitator who also has potential, but just didn’t fit on the team. His talents were the ones least likely to shine in his role on the Thunder. But even though he’s talented, and I’d also say that even if he reaches something like all-star level, letting him go was still the correct choice.
Josh will inevitably show talent that looks like a leap in Chicago. The talent was always there, Chicago will just show that it existed. It doesn’t mean we made the wrong choice in trading him, it just means he found a good fit.

Harden is the modern day Harden. What are these idiotic takes. Harden right now is a better player than Giddey. There are similarities between their departure from OKC, but that’s about all we’ve got so far. Wait and see what Giddey does.

Giddey has a good chance to be better than Caruso is today but he doesn’t have the scoring chops to touch Harden. Still think he can be an all star so ultimately you could say we lost the trade a few seasons from now but it’s doesn’t really matter since we have Shai, JDub and Chet + a million picks.
