The New York Knicks have officially re-signed Precious Achiuwa, who was traded to the Knicks last season as part of the deal that brought OG Anunoby to the team. NY had been seeking trade partners for the last few weeks to fill the backup center position but failed to make any trades likely due to cost. NY wants a full roster come training camp and with options already limited, the Knicks decided not to wait any longer and brought the Native New Yorker back home on a 1 year contract. By doing this, NY can set up a MAJOR trade deadline move including Achiuwa in the deal… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

I would sign Jamarion Sharp 7ft 5 inch 235lbs-245lbs, is a defense and passing center who does what Mitch does it is like having a twin of Mitch coming off the bench even went to same college WKU but he transferred to Ole Miss in his last year.. Dallas is not going to sign him to regular season roster and he is the type of center who does the little stuff that we loved about I Hart he needs a coach like Thibs and a weight and fitness coach to get him to the elite level shape of the NBA. https://youtu.be/sZWeRsBlgY0 He would be a cheap contract that will pay off in two years when we need to resign Mitch or other core. He is Nerlen Noel with good touch and put back dunks at the rim

It's wise 🦉 for the NY Knicks to resign Achiuwa. He is an all-round Center, almost better than Robinson & Simms.

I wish I could share your sentiment but until we get a legit starting caliber Center for the games Mitch will miss. I can’t. I’m glad Thibs don’t wanna use Precious in that role. He’s best at PF. He should back Randle. Hart back to SF backing OG. Dante backing Bridges. Duece backs Brunson.

Another way to look at it is … you spent all your picks on 1 player, you knew you were going to lose Isiah and didn’t pickup a FA in time and all the good ones got taken, and nobody wanted your protected first round picks n Precious sign and trade so this was your only option! I love that Mikal is on the team but the front office definitely miscalculated their ability to get a back up C and we should be able to acknowledge that

He's not a real center I hope it's for a Trade, because if not, we in trouble one center who can't shoot on staying healthy, and another one who's under size. SMH
At some point the knicks are going to have to take a risk and bring up that 7.1 Russian guy and throw him into the lion's den. He plays decent defense and can shoot threes therefore spreading the floor.
I see Precious as Randle backup and our 3rd center when Mitch is injured (we know he will). Now, we just need a backup center. Hope they can get Duren, but I know it is very hard.

What do you think about Jamarion Sharp as a possible backup center for Mitchell Robinson? 7’3 ¾" w/ a 7’9” wingspan and 9’10” standing reach, Sharp is among the most prolific shot-blockers in recent NCAA history (career 17.3 BLK%). Jamarion led the NCAA in block percentage the last two seasons, and finished 2nd in the stat to current Jazz C Walker Kessler 3 years ago. He's only 22, as well!
He also recently played for the Dallas Mavs summer league and averaged 3 Blocks per game in only 15 Minutes per game.
ALSO, much cheaper contract than Jericho Sims is on, so I think the numbers work out.
Could he be the guy to answer our backup center woes? His height would bolster us there a lot, and with Precious, Hukporti, AND Mitchell Robinson, we'd be more than set.

Precious is our back-up center security blanket. I think Spakintsev is an un-tapped resource; and i think he has the potential to be even better than Hartenstein. Hope they give him a chance!
