Grading the Orlando Magic’s Offseason | Do They Still Need a Point Guard?

Grading the Orlando Magic’s Offseason | Do They Still Need a Point Guard?

Did the Orlando Magic ignore their biggest team need this summer, or is it all part of the plan?

Chris Manning, Brendon Kleen and Wes Goldberg debate the Magic’s offseason moves and whether they should be targeting an All-Star point guard in the future.

  1. Listen to Wes Goldberg he knows ball and understand Magic basketball. He even knows Monk and Simons isn’t right for the magic, defensive liabilities aren’t allowed.

Chemistry is more important and 3 players were still replaced. Watch out for AB Jett and TDS

No the magic won’t agree with what Brendon is saying. You need to understand the Front Office to know them better. AB or Suggs will be the future PG.

  2. Y’all severely underestimate continuity and internal growth. Magic had two lottery picks that barely played last year

  3. A lot of Brandon and Chris's arguments didn't make sense. On a team where every important player is still developing, which includes their offense and shooting there's no reason to rush this team, and there weren't a lot of non hypothetical options to go after in the off-season.

Malik Monk signed with Sacramento PDQ and we have no idea if Simons is even available. Simons to Orlando is going to be a thing every year because he's from Orlando and is named after Penny Hardaway. And who would they want back? Probably not their 8th center on the team in Wendell. Beyond that there weren't any names brought up, so maybe the Magic had the same conundrum???

I mean we could have gone the Spurs route and got Chris Paul to run our offense, but Wemby is a bigger name to play with, and there likely wasn't any interest from the Magic.

And wanting them to be in on big name free agents or trade targets, they were legit a top 3 team to land Paul George regardless of whether that was a real possibility or not. So we're there already. And we've never been in a position to trade for a big target at least in Weltman's regime.

But here's to the Magic's progression and this channel's. Even though I was kinda triggered by the takes. 😂 Wes knows though. 👍

  4. Our bench is going to be stronger this year with AB and Jett and Da Silva so we didn’t need to sell the future for just some names to come to Orlando

  5. If this team can win 10 percent more games they will go 52-30 which for as Chris and Brandon say not good will be enough for 4th place in the East!!!

  6. If the magic waited to give franz a extension it would've soured the relationship with him and the FO. Look at how it turned out with ayton.

  7. Wes Goldberg is the only one who knows what they're talking about. There were no point guards worth chasing. Simons was probably too expensive to get. Tyus Jones is a certified cone on defense. Any attempt to nab any "tablesetter" pg would wreck the team's defensive identity.

  8. Never been an aggressive trade team? Lol, we traded Vooch and Gordon with this FO and historically we've brought in tons of guys through trades when we've been good. Idiotic take.

  9. Magic are building via the draft. They are not in a rush. They made it back to where they were before trading AG and Vooch. Let’s see what they do this year. The PG issue needs to be resolved. I like Fultz but he’s not a shooter

  10. Allow me to simplify things for you. Magic swaped:
    Harris minutes for KCP minutes
    Ingles minutes for TDS minutes
    Fultz minutes for AB minutes

Jonthan Isaac's contract pays yhe most on year 1 and decreases from there. So the Magic's aupporting cast are all on team friendly contracts that are about to get friendkier with the new CBA deal.

Magic's front office masterclassed the offseason.

  11. You know they don't pay attention to names when they mentioned we just let go of Joe Ingles. The team let 4 guys go including Markelle. Wes, great take. Everyone else do some research. Otherwise it sounds like 2k logic

  12. Please pick up a basketball once in your life before you talk basketball. They took the Cavs to 7 games while shooting horrible from beyond the arc. So they sign KCP. A 40% 3pt shooter who shoots 43% from the corners. Harris will get more comfortable. Jalen is our PG of the future. If Franz makes the leap everyone believes he will make that contract will be a steal by year 2 when he's an allstar. They will integrate Black into the offense more and he will be a nightmare defensively. Paulo needed shooters to step up against the Cavs and we just didn't have it. Now we do. With way better shooting teams will be forced to not double Paulo so much so his scoring and game will taka a giant leap. If they beat the Cavs last year they would have given Boston fits all series. They manhandled them during the reg season. This roster can beat anyone on any given night. Gotta learn to lose before you can win. Magic fans get excited. We are right where we wanna be.
