It’s tough. He’s a very good backup point guard and I expect him to get some good run. Paul can’t be expected to play heavy minutes or 70+ games. Tre will play more than people expect. They aren’t going to hand the keys off to Castle immediately.
That being said, he’s not in the long-term plans and is on the last year of his deal. Wouldn’t be shocked if they let him walk or package him for assets.

He’s a little bit worse than Tyus and I consider Tyus between 28-30th best starting point guards from last season. Basically he’s a great option as a backup but this is basically who he’ll be for his career.

I suspect his career will be like his brother, keep working hard, accept you could be moved back and forth between teams as an important role player vs a star.
Similar to brother, just focus on being a good enough point guard who rarely turns the ball over with a decent shot and reliable play maker and you will find your spot in the league either as a starter on a team desperate for a point guard or a reliable 2nd/3rd string that will be counted on to rest the 1st or to take over starting role to injury
I can see a very long career as long as he know where he fits in this league and keeps working hard in that direction,

When CP3 comes in and Castle is drafted he’s going to get forgotten. He’ll be a good bench guy.

honest to god, one of my favorite current players. his hustle and hard work is palpable through the tv screen. id imagine he’s one of the inner circle of ‘Pop’s Guys’,

Nice player, but if the Spurs plan is to have capspace next offseason, Tre is on the list of players that will need to be cut loose in order to create that space.

He’s awesome. I’m hoping we can hold on to him a few more years but know realistically we won’t. He will have a much longer career than half the people he subs in for.

Fine backup.
Lots of technical skill but he doesn’t have any vision. His offense as a creator is limited to drive and kick. Not useful in the pick and roll and couldn’t find the 7’5 guy way too often.
He has basic IQ but is sure handed and skilled. That’s a backup.

He’s terrible… I have never seen a PG stay in one spot for 24 seconds and not pass the ball once until Tre Jones

I like Tre a lot. Solid true point guard. Usually pass first and looking to make the right play. Not a great defender, but always scrappy and active and gives it his all. Unfortunately he just doesn’t have the size of modern point guards, and he doesn’t have an elite playmaking or scoring game to make up for it. I’m not sure if he’s in our long term plans, but I think he’s a back up guard on most teams in the league. I hope we can hang on to him as we continue to build a good team, every team needs a reliable high energy guy like Tre.
