And then Ainge wanted to trade all his draft picks for Winslow

Not only that, the Heat (as well as the Pistons at 8 and Hornets at 9) declined a monster trade offer from the Celtics (reportedly 6 picks including 4 firsts) because Ainge *reaaalllly* wanted to draft Justice Winslow.
Pistons said no and drafted Stanley Johnson. Hornets said no and drafted Frank Kaminsky. Heat said no and drafted Justice Winslow.
Celtics took Terry Rozier at 16 instead.

Too many Urkels on your team that’s why your Winslooooooow.

Justise Winslow was not supposed to last that long. He was a possible top 5 pick in that class and slipped. Boston was trying to trade in for it, but nobody wanted their platoon of picks in the 20s that they were offering (though I’d argue Charlotte absolutely should’ve taken that… or literally anything else instead of Frank Kaminsky)

he probably was the target b4 winslow dropped. we didnt even worked winslow out cuz we never thought he’d drop to us. its probably y we passed on other drops in the last 2 drafts like whitmore and knecht to take our guys

I always thought only one of those freshmen from Duke would have a legitimate NBA career, but it was Justise, not Tyus.
I was so mad Detroit passed on Winslow and Sam Dekker to take Johnson.
mmaguy123
Great he didn’t get drafted to Miami. He would’ve been absorbed by the lifestyle and turned into DLo.

Heat fans were always so delusional about Winslow

Why would you hang out with d lo he’s gonna snitch on you

It’s always amazing to me how terrible NBA teams seem to be at drafting. I’d love to see some data on the average draft position of all-nba selectees.

Can we go back to making fun of Taintum please

Book would have cooked for The Heat

Thank you Miami

I mean, the draft is always a gamble. It usually takes a few years before most players prove they were worth the gamble or not.
Glad he ended up in Phoenix, though. At least it’s a dry heat. Lol.

Man, I had hopes for Winslow. He was a good prototype as a point forward. Tall, can defend. Just marred by injuries…
TylerFaber03
Winslow’s in the running for the least fun 2K player ever.
CankerousWretch24
The Jazz passing on Booker for Trey Lyles still haunts me to this day. D Booker and Donovan Mitchell would have been a wild ride
Classic_Presence78
They would’ve won that championship in 2020 if he was there
realfakejames
One of many Pat Riley fumbles, same guy who held onto Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro thinking they’d be stars someday instead of trading them when they had value lol
