Should the Bucks have FIRED Budenholzer?

Discussing if the Milwaukee Bucks should have fired coach Mike Budenholzer and hired Doc Rivers

  1. Overall when compared to Griffin and Rivers No and thats really not disputable. However it was time for a change. Budenholzer was not taking the Bucks and further than what they were when he departed or what they are now. That being said Rivers should never have been retained, and the organization should have used the time after Griffin to this off season to have gotten a new coach. They failed on that.

  2. Doc still doesn’t have much of a resume with the Bucks not a great comparison. It was time for Bud to go his lack of adjustments in Heat series refusing to double Butler was not a good look . The bucks losing to Boston in that game 7 the year prior wasnt the best look either when you consider they left Grant Williams open all game and he cooked them at some point their needed to be an adjustment once he kept making those shots . Coach Bud was a great coach for the Bucks in some regards . Let Doc coach a full season with a full offseason with the Bucks and we can revisit this conversation.
I understand your perspective on Doc and his resume though . Not the greatest with all the talent not all those loses we’re coaching issues though a good bit was injuries to star players and star players performing below expectations. All that being said Doc needs to deliver or the doubts about him will continue

  3. It all starts and ends with Giannis. I too thought Mike Budenholzer was the best coach for Giannis, i am now thinking he didn't get along with Giannis. And honestly speaking the media had talked about Mike Budenholzer firing even before the 2021 championship. In fact, ppl said the 2021 championship is what saved Mike Budenholzer.

With that being said, i think Mike Budenholzer exposed himself in the Bucks-Heat series. You cannot let Jimmy Butler keep cooking Jrue Holiday without doing anything. Another thing that clearly exposed Mike Budenholzer was when its was like some few seconds left and instead of letting Giannis be near the basket to block any shot, Mike Budenholzer put Giannis to guard the Miami Heat inbound ball which left nobody to contest Jimmy Butlers game-winner shot. This is atrocious. You look at it and you are like dude! Also Brook Lopez was on the bench. Those are the dudes you need to be near the basket with few seconds left.

Apparently Mike too did things his way. And remember Giannis said he could've helped guard Jimmy Butler. Why didnt he go to Mike Budenholzer and let him know he could guard Jimmy Butler? Well, it looks like trust was a big issue. Maybe Giannis thought Budenholzer was not gonna listen. I think Mike Budenholzer did this to himself.

Did Adrian Griffin deserve to get fired? 100% no. I think Dame and Giannis just disrespected Adrian Griffin. And honestly speaking the media wanted him gone too. They didn't even give this dude a chance.

I don't even wanna talk about Doc Rivers bro. Doc has been fired so many times that he doesn't care anymore. He just wants money.

  4. Here's the thing. Maybe Bud is a better coach, it was time to move on. They muffled the coaching hire poorly and now we've got rivers instead of Nurse.

  5. Felt like the bucks won in spite of bud, and getting the ball out of jimmies hands should have been tried when jrue clearly couldn't guard him alone

  6. Yes. The only issue is they fired him too late replaced him with a rookie and then replaced the rookie with another stubborn coach who makes 0 adjustments. If Giannis had a coach the caliber of Spo, he'd have 3 rings. Bud was the worst type of coach to have when on the fly strategy was needed.

Furthermore playoff Bud was so bad it was an OPEN SECRET in the league that as long as you countered him, he had nothing for you. Spolestra laughed in disbelief in game 5 when bud didn't call a time out.
Bud also had a weird obsession with old and or slow players who gave NOTHING. The George Hill terrorism, the grayson Allen terrorism.

Only issue now is we replaced bud with bud

  7. That late game meltdown in game 5 vs the heat did it for me 😂😂 Bud took out Brook with 2.1 seconds on the clock which allowed Miami to throw a inbound lob to Jimmy Butler over Pat C. to tie it 118 to 118. Then forgets to call timeout after that before regulation and then does it again late in OT which led to them not getting a shot off 😂😂

  8. I'll give bud the benefit of doubt in that miami series due to the circumstance with his brother and all, but unfortunately it wasnt just this series. In years past he has shown an inability to make appropriate adjustments which costed them games that they should have easily won.
Do I think doc rivers/ Griffin is a better replacement? Heck no. But Bud had to go after being exposed time after time. Bucks just did a bad job in replacing him. There were far better coaches available but they got blinded by celtics being rather successful with a rookie coach that they thought they could pull it off too with AG (my personal take 😂)

  9. Bud was a ROCK! When I wasn't screaming at the tv at Middleton..I was screaming at Bud. Team only won because of Giannis, Jrue and Tucker.. remember in that trash offense (that fell 0-2 twice) I called, stagnant stand around 3pt missing offense ..that team couldn't put the ball into the basket. One shot and done and ignoring Brooks hgt advantage at 7ft standing out on the perimeter launching 3s all game. Lastly, he had to go because opposing coaches were out coaching him big time and he had zero clue how to counter..he just got the team blown out then he goes to the post presser saying basically nothing while drinking water and in a rush to get out of there.

  10. His loss is obvious. Adrian was a tool used by Doc to get a chance coaching again. Yall sacking a man whos just lost his brother is exactly what upset the basketball gods
