Lets talk about the fan culture that’s been created recently. A lot of huge egos who believe they are the reason for the advancement of a sport. ALOT of idol worship, a lot of hate and division based off wins and losses, a lot of disrespect of the work being put in by these incredible athletes, mostly by people who don’t know what it takes to be good at anything besides talking…go do something and get out the way..

he’s not wrong that NBA fan culture is fucking wack especially compared to other major North American sports. people get more excited about a player playing poorly than a player playing well, always tearing down guys for what they haven’t done while simultaneously diminishing the things that they have accomplished. rooting for players over teams is also weird behavior IMO and it only seems to be a common thing in the NBA.

Only in the NBA do we get guys making $25-60 million dollars per fucking year, constantly and ungratefully slandering the greats and giants of pervious generations, and then sitting out multiple games for “load management”. Couple that with an awful TV presentation and horrible announcers even during THE FINALS, ads everywhere, sports betting rammed down our throats, and ticket prices skyrocketing. No wonder NBA fandom has gotten bad, so has the product

The first thing coaches need to do for players when they join a professional sports team these days:
– sit them in a dark classroom
– fire up the projector
– start a PowerPoint and title the first slide: “engagement farming: what it is and how you can avoid becoming a crop.”
KD needs to realize there is a segment of fans that are terminally online and miserable. No matter what they will continue to be miserable and sharing their thoughts.
