  1. he went from being a massive legend to a massiver legend

  2. With this tournament it was thoroughly disproved that Jokić doesn’t care about the national team. We just couldn’t have expected him to play for it earlier while he was forced to play an entire NBA season + gruelling playoffs.

If Denver ends up losing next playoffs at least we’ll have him ready for that Eurobasket gold!!!

He gave 150% of himself and showed that he cares for national team. That was enough to turn around all the haters that didn’t like that “he wasn’t playing before” (even though he was playing before). Medal is just a bonus.

This was a great tournament for us honestly, we lost in the semi final to the super team that is USA, due to fatigue in the 4th, missing a little bit of luck on some shots in the last 5 or 6 minutes of the game to stop the team USA run and, although I understand that majority of US fans would not agree, a couple of bad referee decisions in the crucial moments of the match, so nobody considers that they choked or played bad in the end of that game… usually after such games, there is someone from our team that everyone will blame for doing something stupid, but nobody has anything negative to say about any of our guys and the way they played in that loss.

The match for the bronze was also a pleasant surprise, since historically we suck at those matches, usually everyone is bummed out because of the semi final loss and uninterested in playing the game. So it was really nice seeing them motivated and determined to bring the medal back home. Of course, watching the celebration from some bar in Paris after the match and later award ceremony with everybody totally wasted was epic lmao

As for Jokić’s legacy, honestly I don’t know, after a while I think this will become just a bronze. We are waiting for a gold since 2002 (then as Yugoslavia), there was a dark period between 2002-2009 when we were terrible, for various reasons, sometimes we had a great team that had too much ego clashes and partying until morning hours on the days the games were played (which led to this legendary press conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjGqw2T8Jic). Then 2009 came silver at Eurobasket, silver on World cup 2014, and Olympics 2016, both decisive loses in finals against US. Then silver on Eurobasket 2017, and finally silver on last years World Cup, so… a lot of silver medals, but we keep missing out on that gold.

I think to cement his NT legacy Jokić needs to bring 1 gold medal, even if just from the Eurobasket. If he manages to end that 20+ year drought without the gold he will secure his place as one of the greats in our NT jersey.

Unpopular Opinion(?): Sorry, but are you auditioning for a job at Serbian ESPN? Because if anyone in this country asked this question about Lebron, Steph, or KD, we all woulda said “go to hell, First Take,” DV’d and moved on.

Was a legend. Still a legend.

Some of us thought he didn’t care. Just proved he cares.

  7. He and the team showed a lot of heart. It changes nothing for me personally.
