  1. Not directed at you OP, but man these articles just piss me off. These Olympics just ended and they are acting like he’s already made up his mind on an event 4 years away. He has so much time to grow his legacy before the next Olympics, he’s probably not even going to be the same player.

I think Tatum will want to play because he’s not a big drama guy, it’s in the US, and he has a chance to eventually catch KD with four gold medals.

I don’t think there’s a ‘mending fences’ element to this. I can’t imagine he won’t go, especially if Kerr isn’t the head coach. I don’t think they are particularly close. He’ll also very likely start and contribute a lot. It’s odd he went from 2nd leading scorer on a Gold medal team to Mr. DNP – it’s not like he got worse as a player these last 3 years. But whatever, he got his Gold and he’ll likely get another in a bigger role the next time around

There’s no mending fences. He has stated that these Olympics and the decisions made, won’t impact what happens in the next one:

    > “It was a tough personal experience on the court, but I’m not going to make any decision off emotions,” Tatum said. “If you asked me right now if I was going to play in 2028 — it is four years from now and I [would have] to take time and think about that. So, I’m not going to make any decision based off how this experience was or how I felt individually.”

The idea that Tatum won’t play in 28 is so dumb. Please stop it, unless he is injured he is going to play.

  6. yah_kehd

Barring unforeseen issues like an injury, Tatum will start in 28.

  7. SubstantialCreme7748

Olympics are over … who gives a shit about 4 years from now when there’s another nba season coming

  8. netassetvalue93

He’ll play for US after winning banner 22 and his 3rd fmvp.

  9. HistoricalSpecial982

Given that many of the 2024 roster will not play in 2028, he will certainly get a bigger, if not leading, role. Brown is almost certain to be asked as well assuming health.

Long time to go before 2028. Who knows what the landscape really looks like. I don’t think Tatum is too heavily thinking about that right now

  11. pls stop w all this fan-fueled faux olympics outrage. let’s move on, tatum’s a great player and teammate. and he’ll use this minor slump to fuel his motivation and work on his game. seriously doubt he’s petty enough to boycott the 2028 team mfing los angeles. jb that’s another story lol

  12. Bearded_Pip

As long as Kerr isn’t the coach, then everything will be fine for Tatum in ’28.

  13. Kerr won’t be coaching. GS dynasty is done (at least until then). Kerr will probably be replaced. There’s a better chance that Joe M will be coach.

  14. devildance3

JT has shown time and time again, he ain’t about the drama, he’s about racking up them titles.

  15. mikeisaphreek

tatum needs to be made up to and team usa needs to make it up to him? you people in boston need to calm down

  16. massdebator69

I feel like as Celtics fans we have a good idea of Tatum’s general temperament. I’m sure he’s still pissed about not playing but LA is 4 years away and will be a different coach + Tatum does not seem like the type of dude to harbor resentment for that long.

  17. Boston-Nolan

If he’s healthy he’ll play. I highly doubt that Tatum, the easiest going all-star in the league is going to throw a temper tantrum. Now I also doubt Steve Kerr will be the coach in 4 years which will make the decision even easier

  18. Action_Connect

I don’t get why people are butt hurt about Tatum not playing much. The team won! Personally, I thought he should have started over booker but at the end of the day, they won the gold medal.

  19. These-Substance6194

In 2028 Steve Kerr will say he is too old now.

  20. thekinggrass

Jayson Tatum has been a part of USA basketball for 10 years now, since he was 16. I’m sure he isn’t trying to throw away a chance to play in the Olympics, in the US, in his prime because he had to sit behind Lebron and KD.

    That’s just not his mindset.

  21. AmericaPie24

It’s not like Kerr will be the head coach again lmao. And 4 years is a long time from now. A lot can change

  22. GooseMay0

Well they’re gonna have to rely on younger talent cause KD, Curry, and Lebron aren’t gonna be there. And if one of them is, they’re not gonna be able to carry like they did. Even the almighty Lebron who will be 43.

Plus Kerr’s useless ass won’t be there.

  23. rufiolive

Nah just have Austin Reeves, Josh Hart and co instrad 🤡

  24. Tatum ain’t holding no grudge. If they’re healthy, Tatum and Brown will both be there.

  25. WinterIntroduction30

Lets all pretend you all know how to coach better than olympic and nba coaches who have been doing it for longer than most of yall been alive hahaha

  26. theperpetuity

Those “old” amazing players needed this more than JT. was he disrespected? A tiny bit, but, reality is, he fit into one of the bog three slots and they did not get injured nor showed up lame. They deserved the spotlight. They the best of their generation!

    It’s ok.
