[Weiss] This should push Tatum to be a better 3-point shooter and get out of whatever this prolonged slump is. It’s the main reason he was not getting minutes when Kerr tightened up his rotation. Brown should take this as a sign he needs to keep growing as a playmaker.

His 3 point shot looks like Raygun trying to win a medal in break dancing

I’m really not that concerned about his shot, honestly. Tatum has had major shooting slumps every season since like 2020, just kind of par for the course for him. he’ll get his stroke back

what he does need to do is change his shot diet to reflect the changes in his body. he takes so many tough pull-up 3s and midrange jumpers and he’s frankly never really been insanely elite at it (especially not in the midrange), but he was definitely better before he became Giannis-lite.

his physical profile alone should make him one of the most unstoppable players in the league going to the rack and we saw a bit of that in the Finals. his game needs to be more centered around his ability to get to the paint, not around jumpshooting. and that will also likely improve his jumpshooting, bc defenders will give him more space if they’re more concerned about him trying to drive

as far as Brown, his playmaking took a big step this year and the level he’s now at is totally fine for a #2 option. asking Brown to pass more is just playing away from his strengths, doesn’t make any sense.

Tatum shot 37% from 3 during the regular season, I don’t know what the hell happen during the playoffs/Olympics. Despite the postseason Brown had I still don’t trust his playmaking which honestly holds him back.

Please hurry up opening night the jays are gonna be on a mission this year

Aside from the low percentages, something about Tatum’s 3pt shot looks different than it did a year ago.

Can’t quite put my finger on it but it’s looks to me like he tweaked his form and never got comfortable with the change.

Tatum made the 8th most 3s in the entire NBA last year and shot above average efficiency while taking the toughest 3pt diet in the league according to BBall Index. He obviously went ice cold for the playoffs and FIBA. But I don’t think his 3 Ball is that much of a worry. I’d imagine he is just on extremely tired legs right now to add on to a cold spell and it’s been ugly. But I’d take a larger sample size of success over a smaller sample of failure.

  7. Why doesn’t he just make more shots? Is he stupid?

  8. I’d like to think he’ll be fine long term. It was a bit surprising since Tatum had a decent year from 3 last season, and was one of the most reliable 3 point shooters in the Tokyo Olympics from what I remember.

  9. Dude is wasting everyone’s time with quotes like that

  10. Meh, the 3pt will vary, not really a concern.

What Tatum really needs to add to his game to be a more complete scorer is a *CP3/SGA stop on his spot and shoot* frontwards facing mid ranger.

I don’t think there’s anything he needs to “take” from the Olympic experience. He’s a great player but not as great as two of the greatest players of all time, who were eating up his minutes.

He’s still the same great player that won a championship with his team a few months ago and he’ll very likely be a starter in the next Olympics. He’ll be just fine.

  12. ZE_HAHAHA

Why does he not just get the surgery done on his wrist

  13. Feels like Tatum shoots contested step back 3s better than he shoots wide open ones

  14. Man I just want him to finish at the rim a lot more. If the dude knew how to cut and attack the basket properly he’d have got more minutes. He’s bailing the defense out when he settles, and he settles way too much.

  15. Dangerous_Toe_5482

Is this the worst press we’ve ever seen a star player get fresh off winning a championship?

  16. nycmonkey

How does nobody mention the ball difference. The fiba ball is smaller and more slippery than the NBA ball. Can be a huge factor.

  17. guitarpatch

Played deep into June, won a championship, became a father again and arrived late to USA training camp

The slander is unreal for someone who just has had an unbelievable year

  18. 38% from 3 is essentially 1.15 ppp which is great. He also can be 40% so in the nba he needs covered and can’t go under and can’t help he’s an a tier player and a good one on both sides

  19. New_Function_6407

The main reason was Lebron and KD were on the team. Does everyone forget Tatum is a forward and not a guard?

  20. give me a break. your telling me the other players didnt have flaws as well?

  21. IgnantWisdom

He always has that nagging wrist injury he has continuously decided against getting surgery on. Not saying he’s making the wrong decision, but sometimes I wonder if all the wear and tear on the wrist over the course of the season and a hard playoff run affects his shotmaking ability.

  22. iAmTheRealLange

Tatum focusing on shooting and Jaylen focusing on playmaking? This Olympic debacle could become a blessing in disguise for the Celtics next season

  23. realfakejames

Tatum didn’t make a jump shot in any of the games he played in, I don’t think people understand how insane that is, like they are outraged he didn’t play much but he didn’t do anything when he did play to show he should, it’s all based on what he did in the nba season but you don’t have any games to waste hoping someone gets out of their slump in the Olympics

You can argue Curry was playing bad but it’s also Kerr his coach, you can understand if he thought he’d break out and he did, I’m sure if Ime were coaching he would’ve been playing Tatum expecting the same thing

At the end of the day Ty Lue, Spo and Kerr didn’t think Tatum was going to give them anything based on what they’d seen, and they won gold so who can really say they were wrong

  24. Tatum and Brown sure have a lot to do for a couple of guys who just won a championship. Tough floor and amazing ceiling.

  25. wavylazygravydavey

Despite winning 64 games and a championship, this Celtics team is somehow gonna have a chip on their shoulder to enter the season

  26. Draymond has the backpack shot and Tatum sometimes has the get off a chair real quick shot when he’s off. He’s gotta fix that.

  27. PorvaniaAmussa

I kinda feel like the lack of competition in the playoffs hurt his shooting.

  28. jumboponcho

Tatum just needs to shoot the easy shot half the time, that’s been a problem of his since his 2nd year
