Never play on ball defense and seek to get stats. If you do, you WILL get cooked. Whether you are the mismatch or not, the priority is to stay in front of the ball. Although @stephencurry30 didn't stay completely in front on Jones' drive, he did just enough so his teammates can do their responsibility, which was Tatum digging from that corner and limit spacing and Anthony Davis coming from the weak side for the block.

100% people who have actually played real competitive basketball know defense is a team sport.
A *ton* of the time the idea is just to funnel the opposing player into your help.
Carlik Jones is a 6’1” guard in the Chinese Basketball Association. He shouldn’t be a mismatch to Steph Curry.
But yes, Steph did fine. It is correct not to go for the steal. And an important part is that you still bother the guy once he gets past you. A real blow by would probably be too quick for the help to even block the shot. Or leave room for a floater over him.
Lebron does this all the time, he stays behind you and ez block

BTW, Steph has had SO MUCH switch hunting practice. He’s an expert!!!! Remember when Lebron would spend 20 seconds trying to get Steph on him 😂
Curry’s general POA defense isn’t great. Lets be honest about it. But his IQ is off the charts so he knows what to do to take advantage of the funnels.
People target Curry for 2 reasons. It’s to target his defense but also to tire him out.
Lmao and when Luka does this, hes a fat man who cant defend. I dont know why people expect every player to be excellent POA defender even when they contribute to like 50% of points.
