inb4 people comment on which players have the best 3pt stats: i feel like when people say “mt. rushmore they interpret it as “top 4” when that realistically isn’t the case. mt. rushmore just has 4 of our most influential presidents, not the best 4, as that’s subjective. it’s not that subjective to say that washington, jefferson, lincoln, and roosevelt are 4 of the most influential presidents in american history, not necessarily *the* 4 most, as it was commissioned in 1927 and we’ve had plenty of influential presidents since then (FDR, JFK, LBJ, reagan), but they were certainly game changers.
same can be said about curry, klay, reggie, and allen. curry is the best, undoubtedly, allen and reggie were both trailblazers of the 3pt game, and klay has numerous smaller pieces to his shooting game (fast catch and shoot, 11 dribble game, etc.) that earn him a spot there.
sure other players might have better stats, but they didn’t influence the way that the 3pt game is played, they adopted it.

No Anthony Morrow?

It checks out. Dame is the only other real candidate. He has more 3-pointers than Klay, and he did it under the pressure of being his team’s #1 scoring threat, not the #2. OTOH, Klay’s accuracy is more than 4% better than Lillard, almost 5% better than Harden’s, and he did it while being a major factor in 6 Finals tips and 4 Championships.
Mt,. Rushmore wasn’t carved until all 4 Presidents had come and gone, though, and I’d say that both Lillard and Harden are still in the discussion until we see how everyone’s career plays out.
The only outsider with a chance at this point is Buddy Hield. He has virtually the same # of 3-pointers made per game played as does Klay, and he’s only 1% behind in accuracy. Being 3 years younger than Klay, he could surpass Klay by the time both of their careers are over.
