Knicks Make MASSIVE Free Agency Decision… | Knicks News

According to a number of reports, the New York Knicks are currently working out a number of free agents in an attempt to help improve this roster for next season. The main players they have been looking at have been backup centers they can add by using the mid level exception or MLE. One of the players consistently linked to NY over the past few weeks has been free agent center Omer Yurtseven. The Knicks recently worked out Omer but elected not to add him to the roster. But it’s clear, NY is planning to make another move… Troy Mahabir breaks all of this down!

  1. Troy is would like to hear your opinion on randle playing smallball death lineup 5th man bc he is coming off an injury and maybe switching it up could prove fruitful after he was hesitant pre and post surgery… now its been some time but i still worry and love randle

  2. Honestly, I saw his numbers. I would have liked him on the team. They have Skapintsev, who, all they need to do is work on his conditioning and sharpen his post up skills and shooting. Like I said the other day, NONE OF THIS (getting a big man) MAKE SENSE IF THEY ARE NOT DEVELOPING MITCH AND SIMS TO POST-UP (backing down their defender coupled with spinning via Amar'e Stoudemire).

  3. Thanks for the scoop Troy. I was on Still Knicks Fan yesterday and arguing with some fellow fans who think the Knicks can mess around the first half of the Season when I brought up the issue of Mitch not ready to go and having to start Sims or Precious. My feeling is they can’t mess around.

  4. Knicks need a 7-footer that can play on both ends. The plot thickens. Disappointed that Omer Yurtseven didn't get signed by the New York Knicks after his audition.

  5. French big looked good for their team… he's undersized. We need a legit big. Bizmack and McGee is who I would focus on, if we're not making a trade. Boogie Cousins would be good to look at as well.

  6. Hopefully the Knicks get a center sooner rather than too late, or I just want another center well before the pre season & training camp begins.

  7. As far as the Knicks go.. It's over Omer. I just think go with trusting the Knicks on this pass. There's got to be something they had seen (or didn't see) but good luck to Yurtseven with a career elsewhere. You mentioned something that rang a bell Troy.. maybe a rookie or summer/G-league guy making an impression at preseason camp. I think the chances are rising for it to be an opportunity for Skapintsev or Hukporti to step up and be that guy. Between Robinson (whenever he's good to go) Sims, Achiuwa and Dmytro/Ariel, that's filling the up the middle (unless) the Knicks don't get enough needed from that spot and elect to sign Jonas in December or maybe before that?? I'd expect that yes they will be giving up some points in the middle, but overall should survive for the regular season. It's getting over the playoffs hump that it will help to have a legit center and viable backup come April/May etc to go vs. Giannis, Joel, Jokic etc etc.

  8. How about the center that played on their G- league team and the Summer league team? He looked pretty good to me and he makes 3 point shots. He is 7'1 and does a good job protecting the rim.

  9. The question that I have…that never gets answered..if Yurtseven was so nice…the savior for our current situation why wasn't he signed immediately after he cleared waivers from Utah? He wasn't signed by ANYONE and is still a FA. We know the FO had to sign things in a specific order to avoid the 2nd apron, but they could've signed any of "their targets" outright? Let's stop with the 2K stuff and work with what we have. So-called NYK fans always want a savior. "Let's trade Randle – our 3X Allstar/2X All-NBA player", "Let's trade Deuce – one of our best defenders" for a chopped cheese and a warm Arizona.

Sims will be our big-man solution. Why do you think Bibby, Zenon, Othella, AND Mark Bryant are working with him? He's FINALLY healthy after 2 seasons with injuries. If he's wack after this year…OK trade him for a 2nd rounder. They fully guaranteed his contract for a reason. I don't believe it's just trading him for iHart's replacement. Jumpman is our best screener and has excellent footwork to switch and stay with faster opponents. Is he our best center option? No. That's Mitch Rob. Can he play starting C and hold it down while Mitch heals up and gets in shape by the playoffs? Yes. Precious can be our backup PF/C unless Thibs decides to start him, but these delusional scenarios need to stop.

Hukporti was signed to a 2 Way. If he was ready he would be on the main roster. Skap will sign a 2 way with POR at some point. Lessort will stay with his Euro team. There are 16 remaining FAs. All are WASHED or UNPROVEN. Moses Brown was already on the squad and got cut. We don't "need" a big man. We NEED to believe in our players and allow them to build their confidence so we can finally get out of the 2nd round and potentially make the finals.

  10. They didn’t sign him because he’s a bum🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ The Knicks made one bad move so far and that was waiting to long to go after a big

  11. All this just shows how much more Knick management believes in Jericho and Precious (and whomever they r really angling for- Adams? Williams lll?) than some Knick fans desperate for any 5 out there …

If it were for some, we'd already be stuck with 10 centers who can't play thibs' type of defense, smthg Sims and Achiuwa have already shown they can do.

Our summer league centers played well but neither promise better than Mitch or Jericho or Precious. Bc ihart and Precious had breakout years, some people don't realize ( or care to remember) Sims has had some impressive outings over the years against the likes of Jokic, Sengun, Kessler, KD, Embiid, Draymond Green, Claxton, Robert Williams lll, etc.

  12. We had the chance on the draft we let go the center of Duke and Utah draft in on a second round .the Knicks knew that Oklahoma were going to HARTENSTÈIN so why they didn't sign the center from chicago he was Cheap 5 millions a year and the sixer signed him 10 million for 2 year he is a good center never get hurt now. You having a problem you can get a center .
