  1. Is there a not so evil billionaire that can afford to spend like half a billion in luxury taxes on a bball team? Preferably someone who doesn’t treat employees like shit. Asking for a friend

  2. Babe wake up. The Amazon x Jayson Tatum collab is dropping soon.

  3. Players will be mandated to stay in the court even on timeouts and in-between quarters.

  4. Flow_Voids

Not related to the topic but Chuck Klosterman is legitimately the GOAT Bill Simmons podcast guest. Everyone should listen, it’s amazing. Bill said Seinfeld and Law & Order are the MJ and LeBron of airplane TV lmao

  5. RVAIsTheGreatest

It feels like he won’t stop until he has his hands on/in every single relevant sector in society. It’s narcissistic in so many ways.

  6. joebos617

as gross as this would be it’s better than that terrorist John Henry owning another team in this town

  7. No_Newspaper_4212

Let’s see this another level of hate if true

  8. itsalmostdry_

The Celtics players are going to be dropped off at the arena in an unmarked van driving with the side door open

  9. BoogerSugarSovereign

MMMmmmm… late stage capitalism enabling capital to pool in fewer and fewer hands truly makes me proud to be an American. This is the dream!

Tatum and Brown come off the court, get in their mandated Amazon work trucks and start delivering packages across Boston.

  11. Red_Jester-94

No. Fuck Bezos, fuck Simmons, and fuck the NBA if that happens.

  12. Green-Umpire2297

That team will henceforth be known as the ABCs

  13. Green-Umpire2297

    New rule

To own a team, you must be able to make 3/5 free throws and a left hand layup.

Seems like hed be a lock to buy the Supersonics when the next expansion is passed. Especially since Silver said ‘looking into expansion is next on the NBA agenda’ at the NBA finals this year. Honestly seems about time. 32 teams seems right and I think the NBA’s talent is big enough and global enough to support two more teams.

As for the Celtics Im not sure if there is some giga billionaire that makes sense. More likely imo is ‘Casino money’. Especially since Encore casino is relatively new in boston and it would make sense to have an arena right next to the casino there. The Celtics currently pay the Bruins owner rent on the building they are in so anyone who buys the majority shares of the celtics would probably want to build a new place and have total control.

Ah, someone has to tell Jeff that the players are in a union.

  16. Unite-the-Tribes

For Celtics fans who are against this, do you realize how few people exist on planet Earth that can handle this payroll? We need a Balmer sized billionaire, the standard CEO type would collapse under the weight of this payroll and sell off the roster within 2 years.

  17. mayacolorado

isn’t it required before buying a team at least you should know how to dribble?

  18. RelationshipIll370

These new reasons to hate the Celtics keep popping up. Personally as a hater I’m eating rn

  19. Jhon_doe_smokes

Ahh so this is why the now owners signed everyone to super max deals lol

  20. JermaineOneilsFist

Jeff Bezos laugh played over the PA system after every opponent’s missed FT.

  21. justablick

That’s it, no more taking a break to pee. Get them Gatorade bottles ready!

  22. kpvallejos

This give me a legitimate reason to hate the Celtics if this happens.

  23. volantredx

To put the scale of wealth that Bezos has, his stated net worth is 200 billion dollars (and it is likely much higher than that). Jeannie Buss’s family has a net worth of 700 million dollars. This means that Bezos has 285 times the wealth of the entire Buss family.

The current richest owner in the league, Ballmer has 124 billion dollars in net worth. That’s a difference of 75 billion dollars. That’s the *combined* net worth of the next 4 richest owners in the NBA.

And yet somehow he’ll argue that Boston owes him a new stadium on tax payers’ dime.
