Amar’e. That first half of his first season was magic.

Marbury. He had the talent and skill to be our Brunson but had the mentality and maturity of a 12 year old.

Kevin Knox. The guy looked like he had all of the modern NBA tools coming out of the draft. I thought we had a steal.

Trevor Ariza. He was incredibly young and raw and needed time to develop. He was a 19 year old freshman out of UCLA. But instead we flipped him (with a *first*) to get broken down Steve Francis
Ariza was the prototypical 3 and D and we just cast him off. He could’ve been a monster here

For this I’m gonna go with a guy who I think we wasted who we know was good, not someone we thought was good but actually sucked. So I’m gonna go Zach Randolph here.

Channing Frye. Dude looked like a stud in the making his rookie year and nabbed all-rookie 1st team, and although he had a long, nice career, he never developed into anything better than a role player. Frankly, his rookie season was his best in the NBA.

Eddy Curry anyone

If porzingis had the most potential, then doesn’t he also have the most wasted potential?
At least while he was on the Knicks, he never came close to his potential

Most wasted potential was Carmelo’s tenure. I’m not saying Melo was bad, just that the FO squandered an opportunity to put a really good team around a top 10 player. They had the one year but that’s all. I think you could just put up a picture of Phil Jackson for the board.

I wouldn’t say Amare was wasted potential, that was bad luck as much as anything.
Chris Childs was on an upward trajectory when we signed him from the Nets and then just regressed every year. He should have at least been a slightly above average PG.
Charles Smith is another one. We traded Mark Jackson for him and we all know how that went.

I’m going Melo, but more so on the front office for real. We wasted Melo’s time here, and struck lightning in a bottle one year.

Stat could’ve been better here, but his back and lack of fighting skills derailed him.

Either Michael Ray Richardson or Eddy Curry. I’d personally say MRR because he could’ve been incredible if not for his drug addiction and we’ll never know. Curry legitimately had 20/10 potential but he was lazy and didn’t care about basketball. You’d see flashes and think damn if this guy could just put it together, he’d be pretty damn good, but nope. Wasn’t meant to be.

JR Smith. One time 6th man of the year who couldn’t keep it up for us. Went on to win rings in Cleveland and LA.

Old school answer is Michael Ray Richardson. Cocaine’s a hell of a drug.
