Perfect news. Now if they could fuck off from Liverpool and the Sox, that would be a dream come true.

  2. Can anyone find the actual tweet/clip/media from Massarotti where he states this? I looked through the article, and it only links to an aggregator account and Tony’s general twitter page

EDIT: [I looked further and it’s just him giving his opinion, not informed or sourced reporting](https://985thesportshub.com/2024/08/19/mazz-john-henry-not-interested-in-buying-celtics/)

    From the transcript:

    >Absolutely, Murray. When John Henry bought franchises, he bought undervalued signature franchises. The Red Sox were undervalued and had a greater capacity for growth back then. The Sox were always run like a mom-and-pop organization. There was a lot of chance here for growth and income, which is why it interested the Fenway Sports Group. The same is true for Liverpool. The Penguins are an elite franchise, but they have all these assets at favorable prices.

    >The Celtics are not at a favorable price. And secondly, if the price is going to cost $6 billion, they’d almost be better off getting their franchise and starting from scratch. The new owners of the Celtics would inherit a tax bill that would come with paying players.

    >**Now, do you want my opinion? John Henry and his group don’t want the Celtics. That’s my opinion.**

Then, further on, he strangely couches it

    >Mazz: **That’s my understanding. It doesn’t mean that I’m reporting that. I’m just telling you; I don’t think they want the Celtics. That’s what I’m hearing**

Jeff Bezos is equally as bad and so is LeBron

r/nba made me worry it was Pags dropping out.

Still hoping it’s him, but I’ll take a guaranteed no FSG for now

Best news all week! So Jeff Bezos rumor might be true?

Idk how I would feel about being owned by bezos, but at least these bums won’t have their grubby mitts on the team

I’m not sure of any ownership group anymore. In the old days Sports franchise ownership was a rich man’s hobby. They tended to love the hobby for good or bad. But now it’s just another investment vehicle, and the best thing you can do w your investment isn’t swing for the fences…it’s hit singles, take walks, etc. In other words be competitive enough to make playoffs, but don’t go crazy and overpay for the last puzzle piece.

Thank fucking god. Would have been the worst outcome. With our “unrealistic expectations” Fuck those guys

  9. Bearded_Pip

This is not quite a reason to celebrate. There are much worse potential buyers out there.

And o don’t bout y’all but I want the monopoly of Amazon to stay the fuck away from the Celtics. Amazon employees are treated and paid like shit. This is also a conflict of interest because NBA and Amazon have a tv deal for Tuesday and Thursday games.

If Bezos buys the team, I hope he builds a new arena

  12. hello_fato

Does it mean that Bron-Bron will be closer from the Celtics next ownership group (as he has a part in the Liverpool FC)? 🤔

  13. goldfish_11

I, for one, welcome our new Amazon overlords, assuming that they plan on keeping the team together and maybe build a new arena.

We just keep winning this offseason, LFG
