Sam Presti was runner up for most potential

One of the ten thousand long boi, uber athletic, zero skills that we will totally teach them lads.

I guess I’d go Ferguson, since he was long, athletic, and supposed to actually be a shooter.

I really thought Perry Jones III had the tools to be great.

I would have argued that Melo was the most wasted potential. Billy D didn’t make any adjustments to the offense when they brought him in.

Since he is already on the board, my vote is James Harden. They should have given him a max deal and wasted a young core of Harden, KD, and Westbrook.

Jeremy lamb or pj3. Both seemed like they could step up and it just never happened

  6. Hasheem Thabeet. 7’3 but never did much… was a beast on 2K though

POKU. You could see the flashes every year before he got injured. Dude really could’ve been something.

Might be recency bias, but Darius Bazley. He had the athleticism, good defensive potential both perimeter and some rim D. A lot of people believed he could’ve upped his self creation but it just never materialized. Imo he had more tools than McGary, Jones III, or Ferg.

Hard to determine what type of player to choose here. You have wasted potential that didn’t end up doing anything, and wasted *Thunder* potential that was successful elsewhere.

I think success elsewhere is probably the better choice.

It’s gotta be Giddey. He was flashing all-star potential at the end of 2023. Youngest player to ever record a triple double. And we used the 6 overall to get him. I know it’s because Jdub took off and his off the court issues, but it really felt like he was a core piece two years ago.

I thought Perry Jones III was the missing piece to the team back in those days

Probably not the *most* potential but I genuinely thought that Hamidou Diallo was gonna be something. Sucks that his career peaked with that all star dunk over Shaq but hey, that’s more than any of us have done in the NBA 😂

Gotta be Darius Bazley for me. He looked the part, his measurements coming in looked awesome. Looked like a potential defensive anchor. Eventually though his basketball iq just couldn’t develop to be a useful player.

Perry Jones will always be such a huge what if for me

  15. Superdan385

While they were on the roster I felt like Deonte Burton didn’t get enough minutes.

Most underrated should have been serge

It’s definitely KD. He could have been an all-time Thunder great. Instead, he wasted time on a super team, lived in purgatory on a drama filled Nets, and now just isn’t good enough on the Suns. For the Thunder franchise, there is noone else that comes close to this level of wasted potential.

  18. I’m voting Roberson. Who knows what could have happened without that injury?

  19. safetycommittee

Cole Aldrich must be Most Forgotten if not Wasted Potential

  20. boogiebee13

Bazely is my vote. He was hyped up like he would help us replace KD and he did next to nothing for our squad.

  21. DerekD76

I don’t know whether seeing so many different answers is a good or a bad thing lol

  22. blbeach33

A different view, but Tre Mann wasn’t able to showcase his true potential here, and it would have been wasteful to keep him benched.
