Netflix teases a project following a group of basketball players, LeBron James, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, and Franz Wagner, during the 2024 Olympic tournament, to release in 2025

Source

Netflix teased the project with a post showing the jerseys of the five players laid out on the ground.(Note: The number of the German jersey is cut off, but I'm rather sure Wagner's number 9 is the only number it could be) The post had text reading "Find out what happens on the quest for Olympic Gold. Coming to Netflix 2025.".

Of course also the jerseys could not indicate what players will be featured, but I’m assuming they are.

The show would likely be in the vein of other sports documentaries on Netflix, such as Quarterback, Full Swing, Break Point, and Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Netflix also has an upcoming project featuring NBA players during the 2023-24 season, those players being James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards and Domantas Sabonis.

Wait weren’t they making one that had Tatum, brunson and a few others?

Typical. Jokic and lebron love media attention and making the Olympic Games all about themselves

I would love a Netflix docuseries series on various basketball positions similar to how they did receiver and quarterback.

They are beating this show format into the ground, Drive To Survive was good for a couple seasons but the rest after that have been hard to watch imo

Well guys expect the story that makes it seem like team USA was the underdog and how they “silenced all their critics” even though everyone expected them to win every game by 20 points and their only critic was Noah Lyles who wasn’t even talking about national basketball but that NBA champions shouldn’t call themselves world champions. And of course expect that the documentary will completely ignore the fact that if other 11 nations that played the Olympics combined their teams, they still wouldn’t have a team that is as good as team USA

Wasn’t D-Wade talking about doing one of these for the Redeem Team? Whatever happened to that?

yeah, this is Netflix’s mantra. doc content around sports. cheaper than getting the rights, covering the events live themselves. can be a huge promo for those athletes tho.

***One of these things is not like the other! Not like the other! Not like the other!***

  10. A lot of what we saw, team huddles after the game for example, already seemed like it was being done for or they were posturing for the cameras. Didn’t seem candid at all

  11. What’s the conflict tho? I love basketball and these are fun players to watch play but I’m not seeing what the story is?

This might make sign up for Netflix, NOT. Jeez, what a bunch of crap.

Why not follow them throughout an entire season instead of a few weeks worth?

  14. Man they edit slow as fuck. 2025? They really need that long?

If it’s like the QB and WR show on Netflix, hell ya.

I’d still be interested in Olympic stuff for about another month.

Past that, the afterglow is well and gone.

Just do a 2 hour special of NBA Players playing poker.

  19. I can imagine Jokic running away from all the Netflix cameras lol
