Luka LOVES The New Look Mavericks…

Luka LOVES The New Look Mavericks…

The Dallas Mavericks made a lot of changes this offseason around Luka Doncic… including signing Klay Thompson in free agency, but did they actually get better?

  1. I actually think spencer dinwiddie  will be a key player. Dallas needs someone to get buckets when Luka and Kyrie sits. In the playoffs it suddenly became Hardy but Dinwiddie can also be that guy. They might have Hardy and Dinwiddie out there when Luka and Kyrie is out. Dinwiddie is also familiar with playing with Luka and under Kidd. He had arguably one of his better seasons there.

I also predict Klay has not just a good shooting year with spot ups. He no longer has to move around a lot on offense. But I also think he will have a solid defensive year now the offensive load is off him. If he makes those open spot ups. I can see him getting into playing defense. He won’t be as good defensively as his prime. But he still has good size for a defender.

  2. Josh green IS NOT a better player than grimes. And you’re also wrong about him not getting playoff minutes. As long as he stays healthy he 100% will. Been a huge fan of his in NY glad he’s in Dallas

  3. To say their defense went down and dinwiddie is not impactful and green better than grimes what is this guy talking about
everyone that was replaced got the Mavs more consistent defense more consistent shooting and dinwiddie has proven to work as a starting guard in Mavs system now he runs the second unit with just as good pieces of the starting unit video makes no sense

  4. No way you said Josh was better than grimes 😂😂😂u clearly ain’t watch the mavs consistently not hating on josh loved em but he’s not close to grimes at this point in his career

  5. Extremely hot take: why not bring Kyrie off the bench to start someone like Clinton Grimes while still playing Kyrie with starter minutes to work with the bench, that way you can start someone like Grimes who is a better perimeter defender against teams who have a lot of dangerous guards offensive, for example the Celtics or Cavs?

  6. Spencer Dinwiddie is a cancer to any team he’s on. People are so quick to forget how bad he was on the lakers.

  7. Dude do some research on the team before you make a video. Josh green is so ass and can’t guard anyone. Grimes is better all around especially on defense and shooting.

  8. Grimes is definitely better then Green he just had a down/injured season last year. Also i think y'all sleeping on Dinwiddie in this system

  9. you clearly didnt watch the warriors last season and i dont blame you. Klay cant even make his open threes anymore and he went 0/10 in a play in just imagnie how bad he''s gonna be in the playoffs

  10. its looks more upgrade to me. grimes and marshalls defense are consistent while green is ahustle guy and jones highflyer but inconsistent. not that worried about klay being weak on defense cause defense is a team effort plus luka unlocking klay again turning him to his star form would overwhelm other teams

  11. I do not doubt Luka’s elite individual talents and expect him to always be in the MVP conversation, but I really don’t view Luka as the guy to lead the Mavs to a championship. Celtics this year all played elite defense and team basketball, nuggets played elite defense and again team basketball. Luka’s defense during the playoffs was very good, other times needed some work, but I feel like he limits guys to catch and shoot roles. In the finals the Mavs role players didn’t just not show up, the Celtics essentially said “we will double Luka and Kyrie and close out every corner 3, but role players can take 3s anywhere but the corner” and they shot horribly because the guys feasted from the corner 3. Luka forces guys to be catch and shoot currently which could be Kidd, but they aren’t winning until it’s a bigger team approach

  12. I think they will easily be one of the best offense in the league.
Luka and Kyrie will definitely have way more room to work with alongside Klay.
The defense would be concerning for sure.

  13. DJJ was the only L they should have resigned him but other than that. Klay is way better than THJ Grimes is better than Josh Green and Dinwiddie is a good depth piece. And Naji is pretty similar to DJJ.

  14. Bruh if pj dlive and gafford buff their 3pt shooting because of klay and kyrie, team is future proof for the next 5 years

  15. Everybody said they wasn't going far heading together if they stay with the same squad now they saying everybody we gave up is the people we needed to go deep in the playoffs this coming season make it make sense

  16. In my opinion you are quite off on this analysis.

No one said that the moves the Mavs made were not good. Turning THJ DJJ and JG to Klay, QG, Marshall and Dinwiddie are all plus moves.

QG is better than Green. Green maybe more energetic but QGs offense is better and his D might be a little better too.

Marshall can replace what was lost with DJJ, while providing better ball handling. Tho losing DJJs lob game is a big one.

Klay is a major upgrade over THJ and his offense gives the team a new look at the end of games.

And finally, Dinwiddie will help as he can be a poor mans Luka or Kyrie when they are out.

Will this be enough to win the chip? We wont know they are not a superteam. But the pieces fit in my opinion

  17. I think they cannot afford to start Klay with Luka and Kyrie out there. I think they will either go with Naji Marshall in the starting lineup if they need size and Quentin Grimes if they need speed. Klay will come in for Kyrie, so they have more shooting gravity when he is on the bench and then Kyrie swaps for Luka with Klay on the floor. Most of the minutes though, are going to be with Luka.

Maybe they will try having that lineup that is suggested in the video, but that will be a more offensive slanted lineup that needs to win by outscoring their opposition. If they want a pure scorer, they already had that in Jaden Hardy, so I didn't quite get the Klay move. Essentially he is a is an upgrade over Tim Hardaway Jr. Even though THJ is way more dynamic and fast than Klay Thompson, he isn't reliable enough as a shooter, despite being respected by defenses and providing spacing that way. Klay offers at least reliable shooting, potentially even better and what he lacks in speed as a defender, he can at least cover players with a little more size quite well.

  18. In what world? You guys are a defensive liability and thought Marshall was a good replacement. You guys regressed mavericks are once again being the 5-7th seed that’s nothing good for the “new look” mavs

  19. I think the problem with Klay is that they lean more into offense, and I would like them to be more balanced. I think its putting a ton of pressure on Lively to be an unreal defender all the time to hold it together, same on PJ washington

  20. Even as a Warriors fan, I think klay needed a new environment. Too much going on in golden state for him to play at a high level again.

  21. Your statement about DAL being "a couple wins away from an NBA title" is so nasty, they lost 4-1, please stop saying crazy shit

  22. Just do me a favor that the Dallas Mavericks Organization play the American National Anthem at all games before Playing Basketball 🏀
That is all that I ask.

  23. What does this video have to do with the title?? At least you hit the 8min mark for the algorithm with this BS.

  24. Just having Washington and gafford for the entire season will give this team a chance to be a top seed. They were one of the best teams since those trades happened. If Lively improves on his rookie season, and Klay hits 3s at a more consistent rate, they should have a good chance to win the west again. The flexibility and better shooting with Marshall and grimes should give them good options on guarding good wings.

  25. Klay needs movement to get open shots. Klay is not the type of player to sit in the corner and wait for the rock.
Klay will have to prove if he is a "system guy".

Who's going to play defense? 😅

Didn't Spencer play for Dallas previously.

  26. The biggest problem will be the same as last year, meaning that Boston,s way to the finals will cost them so much less energy than any team in the West.
