Impact reports for the proposed new arena have been released

Here

https://www.phila.gov/documents/arena-proposal-impact-reports/

i recommend people take some time and actually read through them. urbanism is an important topic and one that everyone should be tuned into. the community impact report is neutral to negative based on a very quick scan. the economic report looks more bullish (which is what id expect to see)

but read it for yourself.

The city and the arena could offset negative impacts by providing additional parking, adding bus lines, and extending both patco and septa so that the area is more accessible.

If it’s somehow legal, the city could designate the area for a certain percentage of Chinese ethnicity owned businesses if the concern is keeping the Chinese flavor of Chinatown. Which I’m not sure that is the best choice, since I don’t like the precedent, but it could be a compromise.

This would be an excellent step towards making a more public transit friendly city.

Being able to jump off at Jefferson station from the burbs via regional rail would make me want to go to way more games.
