The Athletic Made A BOLD Claim About Immanuel Quickley’s Contract..
The Toronto Raptors didn’t make many changes to their roster in the 2024 offseason but they did make significant moves towards their future by securing some of their top assets in Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley. These moves were regarded as a success by most NBA fans, especially fans of the Raptors, but one person who disagrees with this is The Athletic’s John Hollinger.
Hollinger believes these moves did not get criticized enough, especially Immanuel Quickley signing on a contract worth $32.5 million per year but Jacob Gramegna reacts to the article to determine if the criticism is warranted in today’s video on Amateur Hour Sports.

Their contracts were fair and a smart move to keep them loyal with the Raptors.
IQ doesn't have the court vision to play point. Watch 10 minutes of any game with that in mind.
Do you think they were overpaid?
thats all anyone ever says is what the raptors are doing wrong even when they do what people want they still find a reason to tell them what they did wrong im so sick of it
The biggest thing Hollinger didn't consider is that if Quickley signed an offer sheet, it would be for 1 less year, and the contract could be a "poison pill" style, that could mess with the teams salary cap over the next 4 years.
Also, We would have to wait until after the draft, which would mess with any ideas the team had there.
I would have liked $30 a year flat or with slight raise but that average and then if he did very well incentives.
Toronto is a market that has to overpay because of the tax in Canada. But really, to play basketball, a lot of NBA players are overpaid.
They wanted to maintain flexibility.. How do you maintain flexibility when you overpay on the front end during a time when you need the cap space to take on garbage contracts with attached picks..
