This is an overrated signing. Lonnie is a 1-skill guy whose great skill (3-level scorer) is the one thing the Cs dont need. He wont get to handle the ball in the Cs offense as he'll be at least be behind 5 players in Cs playmaking depth chart (jt, jb, jrue, white, pp). The only thing he brings that translates is the good 3pt shooting. He doesnt rebound, pass well, set screens or play defense. The Cs need more of these skills from role players (along with high 3pt efficiency). They dont need another shot creator. Much moreso a guard which is their deepest position. They need 3ND wings.
Hes arguably this teams 12th man at best (assuming Joe prefers his offense to springer's defense). And when fully healthy, no team really plays more than 9-10 men a night in the regular season.
Cs rotation:
starters 1-5: jt, jb, kp, jrue, d.white
core bench 6-9: al, hauser, pp, tillman
regular rotation mins stop here.
situational bench 10-12: luke (with kp out to start the season), queta (for the time Al sits on the 2nd night of a B2B), lonnie/jaden (if they decide to give jrue the al treatment)
maine 13-18: jaden, anton, baylor, walsh, jd, drew
camp cuts 19-20: harper jr. Enaruna
The positive here is lonnie will push jaden and baylor in camp. Lonnie though wont get mins outside of garbage time/injuries. He's not overtaking PP.
I was thinking the Sixers should have signed Lonnie Walker instead of Reggie Jackson or do you think Jackson's Point Guard ability is more important to Sixers than Walker – or sign Walker instead of Gordon but do you think Gordon is more important to Sixers than Walker – it's only an Exhibit 10 deal which gives Walker the option of signing a real NBA minimum deal with another team if he doesn't like his role with the Celtics or if he likes his role he can sign a real NBA minimum deal with Celtics
Y'all are glazing like crazy I'm sorry. Where are the minutes for him? He likely only sees minutes if Jrue/white/JB are missing time. He's real NBA talent don't get me wrong, but how many minutes is he getting?
His style reminds me a bit like Russell Westbrook. LW has the athletic ability to drive to the basket and score important points which can be vital during any crunch time.

He’ll be a nice little spark off the bench
It's not like the Celtics had to do anything special to get him. Apparently no one wanted to pay him what he was looking for, same for Tyus Jones.

He should be a nice player off the bench. Better than most of the players coming off their bench last year.
He actually can be a reliable scorer off the bench

PP and Lonnie off the bench, reminds me of Eddie House and Posley in 07😢
