Butler reportedly has decided he’ll play out next season and won’t extend in Miami ahead of his opt-out in 2025. The odds of him picking up his player option are slim unless he agrees to a max deal with the Heat beforehand. The six-time All-Star is the most accomplished standout on that list not named James, and he likes Brooklyn, according to sources close to the player.

Ok. I think we’ll be better off letting him walk than paying him a super max veteran extension until he’s 40
I vote we continue to build through the draft and not pay our “leader” when he’s 40 huge money

Use your brain, the Nets are rebuilding therefore they would only be signing Jimmy to flip him. Why in the FUCK would Jimmy agree to either wasting away in Brooklyn in complete irrelevancy or getting flipped to the highest bidder?
Mikal Bridges is gone, Claxton is the 17th or 18th best center in the league, and Cam Johnson is decent but mediocre…that’s all they’ve got, those are all the pieces that you can talk yourself into being viable in the playoffs. The rest is praying Dayron, Cam Thomas, and Clowney can turn into surefire rotation pieces-low end starters
This is a non-story
Why would Jimmy go to Brooklyn when he can join Thibs in actual New York?
I like Brooklyn for him too if true.
Blah, blah, blah. Such BS.
I mean cool I guess
Listen, I like Butler, but if you like Brooklyn, then be free and go. If you are here, then don’t look at or like another team. Peace.
