Player Stats Day 8: OO-17

I’m doing a player stat discussion to get everyone’s opinion on how each player on the hawks will do this upcoming season. Today is Big O Day 🔥
What do you think his stats will be and why?
I’m going to say this I won’t be posting his home and away stats because they are literally almost identical lol. Me personally I don’t really care for OO, he’s undersized, has still yet to take CC spot, not a great rebounder, and if I was Landry I would trade him and get a center in the upcoming draft with some real size. This is his make or break year and hopefully he knows that. I’m rooting for all my hawks but OO hasn’t showed me nothing.

Last year stats:
PTS: 10.2
REB: 6.8
AST: 1.3
STL: 0.5
BLK: 1.1
FG: 61.1%
3P: 33.3%
FT: 79.3%
TOV: 0.8%

Not related to stats, but I really don’t get why so many fans are against OO and want him shipped out. Like, I get the frustration with him not starting up to this point and not hitting the ceiling a #6 pick ideally would have, but he’s still a good player and our best option at center this season. Over the past two seasons, [Trae](https://www.pbpstats.com/wowy-combos/nba?TeamId=1610612737&Season=2023-24,2022-23&SeasonType=Regular%2BSeason&PlayerIds=1630168,1629027), [Jalen](https://www.pbpstats.com/wowy-combos/nba?TeamId=1610612737&Season=2023-24,2022-23&SeasonType=Regular%2BSeason&PlayerIds=1630168,1630552), [Bogi](https://www.pbpstats.com/wowy-combos/nba?TeamId=1610612737&Season=2023-24,2022-23&SeasonType=Regular%2BSeason&PlayerIds=1630168,203992), and even [Dejounte](https://www.pbpstats.com/wowy-combos/nba?TeamId=1610612737&Season=2023-24,2022-23&SeasonType=Regular%2BSeason&PlayerIds=1630168,1627749) all had better net ratings with OO on the court than with him off. While he isn’t a bomber from deep, he doesn’t clog the paint for Trae/Jalen like Capela does. His limitations in rebounding can be made up by Jalen, and even with his size concerns he still has a lot of defensive upside (remember him guarding Giannis). Most importantly, we have him under contract for 4/60. Why not give him the reins and see if we have a long term starter at $15 AAV? Moving him before the season for a future pick makes the team worse this year, and there’s no guarantee that the next center we draft is better than OO.

As for the stats, idk probably 12.5/10/1 in ~28-30 mpg

He should start . Whether you think he’s undersized or what he should start point blank, unless we somehow magically trade for a better center . Yes his rebounding numbers won’t ever be eye popping but he does so many things at a positive level that don’t show on the stat sheet like being able to switch on defense & be versatile on offense .

If he starts – 14-16 ppg , 9 rebounds , 1.5 blocks , less than 3 fouls & continuing to develop his offensive game

Onyeka stats when starting in 2024 (8 games)

    16ppg,8.5 rebounds , 1.6 blocks ,3.8 fouls
