Where does Lonnie Walker IV fit on the Boston Celtics?
Recent chatter suggests there’s a chance the Celtics cut Lonnie Walker in training camp, which is always possible with the deal he’s on but it begs the question … why sign him at all if you’re just going to send him to the G League? Is Lonnie Walker really a G Leaguer now? John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal says not only should Walker not go to Maine, sending him there would be bad for the G League team and get in the way of the guys who need developing. So where does he fit on the Celtics? There is a role for him available, even if he might have to fight Jaden Springer for it.

☘️☘️☘️☘️ Leon?
He’s taking Brissett spot no? They can give JB or like Holiday less mins and throw in Lonnie with the bench or Tatum. That would be effective. Dude can score if he has someone passing like Tatum. Idk just my thoughts lol
When i thought about the money i understood other than that ion know i think he could fit in as a 10th+ man
Get in where you fit in Lonnie..👌🏻
Honestly, I believe it's a money thing. Think about it. If the Cs gives Lonnie Walker gets signed outright to the regular team, he'll just get a standard veteran's minimum contract. However, if he gets an Exhibit 10, then a guaranteed G-League contract (with the condition that the full amount of the contract will be paid to him if he is elevated to the Cs regular lineup), then a veteran's minimum when he joins the regular team, that's more than the vet minimum of $2.8 M that he is entitled to given his years in the league. So he'll probably get $4M for the year as a whole and Brad just circumvented not having a Mid Level Exemption.
