The Raptors Should Be Planning A HUGE Trade For Brandon Ingram

The Toronto Raptors re-claimed control of all of their draft picks in this offseason and perhaps they are presented with an opportunity to dip into it with a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans for Brandon Ingram. Jacob Gramegna investigates the disgruntled star who is heading into the final year of his contract to determine what the trade might look like and if Masai Ujiri’s front office should pull the trigger on a deal that would shake up the NBA.

  1. Replace Boucher with Olynk then I can see the Pels doing it asap. My only concern is that Star J, IQ, Barnes, & BI are all pretty ball dominant

  2. All raps fans should want him for the on court factors. He really is an on court perfect fit for balancing out this roster offence defence space and size. He’s not a knucklehead either.

No Raptors fans should want to give up draft capital on a rental. There should be some – as our expirings for theirs doesn’t make a tonne of sense for Pelicans..

But I’d make them conditional and protected. And or give up one of our kids as we have a lot. He has Raptors friendly agents. It could really really work.

I’d be willing to put forth the effort to do it before training camp. Afterwards it’s of declining value. It would probably better just to pursue him in free agency

  3. i would rather see Jerami Grant from portland for Brown and Boucher. or Brown and another player for Grant. would also open a roster spot. 6:21

  4. Pelicans dont have any leverage in this situation. Pelicans cannot pay him with their upcoming salary crunch so they HAVE TO move off him or lose him for nothing. Ingram is challenging player to just throw on any team + the contract he's looking for is insane for the player he is. All of which shrinks his market to very few teams capable of trading for him. Nobody should be giving up any picks in this situation. Maybe some crappy 2nds but that's it. The best Pelicans can hope for is Poetl + Boucher.

  5. I want to see BBQ as they develop I think a Camron Johnson would fit better. I think he is a little better Def and is a 3 threat where BI scores more as Scottie and RJ does. CJ also sets up your system so Gradey fits his backup for now and Ja’Kobe fits RJ Backup .
CJ also will cost less contract and assets. Yes I understand he is not as good of a scorer but gives us 5 legit threats to start and floor spacing with IQ and CJ to complement less spacing RJ + SB slashing. Jak does Jak. Then we only need to select Christian or Bruno to help backup C as KO can give some mins at both 4-5.

  6. If we're trading for a piece that improves our core, it should be for center. players like nic claxton is a far better piece to make a trade for imo

  7. They need a centre. Plus, how do you pay RJ, Quickley, Barnes, Poelt and Ingram? They'd have no money for bench players. I guess they could move RJ, but would Ingram be much of an upgrade and at a higher salary? It doesnt make sense IMO

  8. Why would we trade picks for a UFA next year if we're not competing? He's a good player but that would be horrible for the Raptors

  9. Masai himself said the Raps are in year 1 of a rebuild. Can’t see a world where they’d give up assets in 2 loaded drafts to pay a max to a guy who’s not worth that.

  10. NO would never do this trade. Boucher is not cracking the rotation on a playoff team anymore. Bruce brown is redundant since they just traded for Dejountey. This is a joke of an offer.
