I know everyone hates draymond but it wasn’t the punch. Poole just regressed to the mean. He still had lots of confidence – in fact, overconfidence – and did dumb things on both ends of the floor, a trend that continued in Washington. I wish him well, he was key to the 4th ring, but you can’t blame Draymond for his play.

Poole was excellent early in the playoffs that year they won. Later, he essentially a distraction. If teams scouted correctly and GSW watched the games right, they would have seen that his game was already trending negatively.
“You are 30s expensive backpack” to a guy that got 3 rings before you, and didn’t have a contract yet…it’s not a great look. He didn’t deserve the assault. Regardless. But it was all bad. All of it. They overpaid and he had to go.
