I'd love to hear a sport psychologist view or opinion on Jamal's mindset playing with Jokic. The Jokic/Murray combo is amazing but there have been times over the years where Jamal has played Hero ball and lost the game. The worst time was last playoffs getting straight jacketed by the Timberwolves with Gordon wide open. Jokic just wants his teammates to play the right way, no ego. Jamal, on occasion seems like he's trying to prove something. It shows in how he plays(on occasion) and how he handles media interviews. With all that said, love Jamal!

This was a misstake. Not worth that money, in fact i would have traded him for a deeper bench and one of two yugo players like Bogdanovic or Micic or both.

This was right move by the front office. Murray is still only 27 (5 years younger than Bogdanovic, btw), and unlike many many of the “max players” in the NBA (there are quite a few guys who make more than the basic max, btw), he’s been a key player on a championship team. Not signing him would have required the Nuggets to trade him — as letting him go to unrestricted free agency would have been dumb — and I would not want to see him traded for Trae Young or Zach LaVine or LaMelo Ball or D’Angelo Russell or Coby White or James Harden or Anfernee Simons or Dejounte Young or Jalen Suggs or CJ McCollum or Collin Sexton, to mention some guards who the Nuggets theoretically could obtain in a Murray deal. I’d rather keep together the Jokic/Murray pairing. Murray has had some injuries, but Nuggets’ fans have a tendency to not realize that that is more the norm than the exception in the NBA.

Murray will produce less and less every year from now until he retires. Its all downhill from here. Your paying him for 2023. Thats it. Should have traded him. Might not be able to now. I would have traded him for Levine, or CP3.
This is a fuckup. Everyone knows. There were no better options really. Not paying Murray would mean drama/uncertainty. Now there is "hope". But there i no hope with Murray. He isn't 22, he is 27. He didn't just plateau, he is regressing.
I don't get this "tension between the coach and the FO" thing. I'd think there's a clear hierarchy in their roles, and that the FO is responsible for the strategic planning, while the coach has to handle the every day, tactical planning. So, if the FO decides they need to develop the young guys, then whatever the coach thinks should not matter – his job is to do his best in the every day planning to ensure the FO's longer term, strategic planning works out as well as possible. Or to get out and let someone else do it – his job certainly is NOT to undermine the FO's plans by refusing to follow thru with them. Sure, there might be discussions about it during the planning phase and the coach's input is valuable, but once it's been decided, that's it. So, no matter how good the FO's final say as far as strategy goes may actually have been or not, Malone would be in the wrong if he activelly ignored or opposed it.
