20% of ben wallace’s shots were midrange lmao only 60% of his shots were assisted, probably shoulda been closer to 85-90%
i feel like with the type of athlete he was, running up and down, vertical, etc, and the shot profile he’d have now as strictly pick and roll, lob catch, offensive boards, no midrange, he wouldn’t be a negative on offense
And he did those things too while being a bit undersized for a big man
Been watching the NBA for more than 2 decades now, Ben wouldn’t be able to do those things today with how soft foul calls are today

my ben wallace story:
when big ben went back to the pistons at the end i had like 10th row tickets to pistons-spurs in SA, and i drank 100 beers and when he caught the ball outside the 3 pt line i screamed SHOOT IT and he looked at me all mad
good times

Ben Wallace with an afro in those early-mid 2000s Pistons jerseys is iconic to me. Looked so damn cool.

One of the rare instances when the strongest guy in the league was also the best defender. This guy stonewalled prime Shaq

I know he was amazing but I’ll never forget him coming to The Bulls and being an absolute bum lol. It was late in his career and after injuries I think.

Ben Wallace is the definition of explosive lol

i sincerely doubt i will ever get as much joy out of watching an nba player as ben wallace
like genuinely got stoked every time he checked in because he was gonna wreck shit

Hope he woke up and stubbed his toe.

His series v Orlando in 2003 is still IMO the greatest defensive basketball ever played.
He was obscene and only 6’9″!

Oh my gosh. I loved this vid. My nostalgia is going crazy.

He had that LBJ build and athleticism without the offensive skills. Too fast and too strong for that height. It didn’t make sense. You can put him on bigger and smaller guys and wouldn’t be in a mismatch. Dude would be a lob threat today and easily average a 15+ rebound double double. One of my favorites from this era. Last of the Rodman breed.

But wait, I thought all those old players were non-athletes? /s

Weird how those accolades are used to describe him and not NBA Hall of Famer
