A pretty decent analysis

GS State of Mind has what I consider a solid summary of the issues that face us in the coming season:

If we split out all 4 rookies and all of the new vets, there are about a dozen things that could go anywhere from very right to very wrong. Our outcome if aa 12 go very right vs. all 12 very wrong vs. half-and-half will swing dramatically. I still see #6 Seed as the plus-minus for the upcoming season. I'm hoping it will be better, but that's the level where I'd be hard pressed to figure out which side to bet on.

Same issues as last year. deep team but not a lot of high end talent. west is getting better. best case is top 6 or 7 first half and make a trade at the deadline for an all star and a push at deep playoffs.

the problem with the play in is that 25 teams have a shot to be top 10 at the trade deadline. a lot of teams will be eyeing a star

‘A lot of things that can go right or wrong’ is true for most teams most seasons though.

Warriors situation is simpler I think: they won 44 and 46 games the last 2 years … their 2 best/most impactful players are old and now 1 year older … and they did not add any free agents of note.

Smart money is on them winning around 45 games and being a playin team. Vegas line is 43.5 and that seems right.
